Ipod Sound Quality Terrible

Hello everyone. I bought an 80-Gig video Ipod Classic a little over a year ago and up until last week, my Ipod has been working very well, but when I went to listen to music, the sound quality of the music was terrible. I originally thought it was the earphones I was using (which never had any trouble before last week), but the sound quality was just as terrible with a brand new pair of earphones. When the music is playing, all I can hear is a very low-volumed background-rhythm playing, no vocals, barely any bass, and no lead guitar work at all. I rotated the connector portion both pairs of earphones when plugged into the Ipod to see if this would fix the problem, but the sound quality remained the same and in certain positions, the volume would shut off entirely. All this leads me to believe there is something wrong with the Ipod itself. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your comment, but before last week, I never had to touch the EQ settings because the sound quality has been great. I am the only one who uses my Ipod, so I know no one has been messing with it. If I radically bend the rubber covering portion of the connector of the earphones when plugged into the Ipod, the sound quality will return to a semi-normal state, but that only occurs as long as I'm bending the rubber.

your not gonna get video from the little output cord on the ipod, its just not gonna happen, that cord only has 4 small wires in it for sound only, the only way to get video form an ipod is through the usb, and it will be crappy quality anyways

I have a 120 gig classic ipod, and i have 3 white

It is probably a short in the connector inside the unit going from the screen to the circuit board. You can replace the screen yourself, just have to do some google searching. Also, if you wanted to connect your Ipod to a TV, you can plug an RCA cable into the sound port. You have to have the cable that has three prongs on one end (yellow for video, red & white for sound), the other end of this cable is a 3.5" (headphone) audio plug. Classic iPods export video data from the sound headphone jack!

Logitech mm50 very little sound coming from right speaker

Check the cables and see if there is a tear, or unscrew the cover of the speaker (if possible) and see if the contact is frayed or only holding by a couple of wires. This will reduce the sound quality.

If not, the speakers are faulty, and they are not worth replacing. Just purchase a new set.

Ipod problem - playing songs in order

sounds like you need a new hard drive, which has a little read-write disk in it that is getting finicky... just to get more use out of it lay it on side or other positions and hear if works ok...if so its diffently Hard drive. you know the sandisks are 2 gigs no moving parts why doesnt somebody put 20 together making 40 gigs and replace the failing Ipods!!??? just pure electronics and no moving parts and much smaller...not like a hard drive. I thought of this over 30 years ago looking at the first plug in video game.
