The plug in sata ports do not matter for order unless you are plugging into ports reserved for RAID. Check your motherboard manual to see if any ports are reserved for this setup. If so change any cables out goint to those ports. You will also need to enter bios and make sure SATA is enabled in your settings. Once you have done this you should be able to boot and your drives will be auto detected. Hope this helps.

How to connect DVD SATA to asus m4a88t-m motherboard

Hello you can download the manual here:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A88TMUSB3/#download

Please select you windows system.
Open the manual folder and click on global for download.
Please unzip the file and you need adobe reader to read the content.

Basic connections is to plug the power cable (from power supply) in the drives and connect the HD sata cable to sata 0 or 1 and the dvd drive to sata 2 on the mainboard. This can not be done wrong because there is no jumpers to be set like the old IDE drive.

You just have to take antistatic precautions when working on the mainboard.

Here is some youtube video that shows you how:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+connect+a+sata+hard+drive+&oq=connect+a+sata&gs_l=youtube.1.0.0i5l2.2651.12902.0.16537.16.13.1.2.2.0.100.886.12j1.13.0...0.0...1ac.1.DxJ-0V4vaJg

You also have to setup the boot settings for the drives in the bios.

In order to boot from the dvd drive and to make the installation.

Good luck

D945gtp how to connect cd-rom hardware

1) IDE {PATA} DVD burner drive:

For an IDE { PATA } DVD burner, connect to the 40-pin IDE header on the motherboard. This is located to the right side of the Ram Memory slots.
It is the longer header that has 40 contact pins. {39 actually}

( The shorter connector on the motherboard is for a Floppy Drive.
{34 pins} It is above the IDE 40-pin connector )

NOTE*
The IDE connector on the motherboard should be keyed. Should have a cutout on one side. This is so the Number 1 pin in the flat IDE ribbon cable, will line up with Number 1 pin in the motherboard connector.

Some flat IDE ribbon cables, do not have a Locating Lug on the connector. (Small rectangular 'bump')

Number 1 pin on the IDE ribbon cable will be on the side that has a faint RED stripe on it.

Number 1 pin in the motherboard connector is at the Bottom, with the motherboard installed.

The side of the flat ribbon IDE cable that has the faint red stripe on it, goes DOWN, when installed in the motherboard connector.

If the DVD drive does not have a cutout for it's circuit board, the faint red stripe of the flat ribbon IDE cable, goes towards the power cable connection.

2) SATA DVD burner drive:
You have 4 Serial ATA headers (Connectors) on the motherboard.
Your SATA harddrive should be plugged into the SATA1 header.

You can choose any open available SATA header, to plug your SATA DVD burner drive into.
BIOS will see it once you turn the computer on.

3) If you somehow have been using an IDE {PATA} harddrive, and have it connected to your IDE connector on the motherboard, you SHOULD not use a DVD drive on that flat IDE ribbon cable, also.

BIOS has to find which device has the Operating System on it, (Windows), and then hand the computer over to the Operating System.

To state again, BIOS will look at both devices connected to that flat ribbon cable. The Harddrive, and the DVD drive.
It will then determine that the Harddrive, is the device that has Windows on it, not the DVD drive.

This slows the computer down, and could result in a blue screen.

If you have an IDE harddrive plugged into the motherboard, it would be best to use a SATA DVD drive.

How to install GH22nS50 Rewriter into my computer

These are the steps for installing your optical drive:
1. Remove both side covers on your PC case. 2. Locate a free 5.25 in bay on your desktop computer. This is usually located near the front/top part of a PC ATX case. 3. Remove the front/external cover for your chosen drive bay. This cover is usually not screwed in. You just have to pry it open. 4. Screw in the optical drive to the drive bay. You need 4 screws, 2 on each side. 5. Power connection : Locate a SATA power connector from your power supply and plug this into your new optical drive. The SATA power connector looks like this rjbautista.jpg
6. Data Connection - Locate the SATA ports on your motherboard which looks like this rjbautista_0.jpg
You need to plug in a SATA cable from your motherboard to your new optical drive
SATA cable rjbautista.gif
SATA power and data ports on the back of the optical drive
rjbautista_1.jpg

7. That's it! Your new optical drive should now work. it's plug n Play so you don't need to install any drivers for this device.

Can i use a sata hard drive with my ga 7vklm mobo

The Gigabyte GA-7VKMP motherboard does not support serial ATA SATA drives. Open the link provided; http://tw2005.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Products/Products_GA-7VKMP.htm
2 x ATA 66/100/133 bus master IDE ports
1 x FDD, 2 x HDD and 1 x CD audio input
IrDA(1x5) and COM2 on board
GBT standard front panel
2 x USB2.0 connectors (support 4 ports by cable)

You can connect the adapter below to an opened IDE port and connect a SATA 1.5 drive to your system.
http://www.satagear.com/SATA-MM-A1_SATA_Adapter.html
This should allow you're SATA drive to transfer data faster than the 133MHz standard IDE speed.

Cheers'

How do i hookup sata dvd drive

You should have been supplied a SATA cable if you have bought a new DVD drive. On your motherboard you will see 2 orange connectors just underneath where the older IDE grey cables plug in. Thesae are you 2 SATA connectors. They will be labeled as 0 and 1, if you are not using of these at moment connect to SATA 1 incase you decide to hook up a SATA HDD drive at some stage. Power cable just plugs in as usual. If PC doesnt recognise the drive you will need to go into the bios ( press DEL or F2 at startup) and it will be listed under something like drive configuration and just enable SATA there.
