Question about Vizio P2 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

TV remote doesn't work but cable one does

I only need to use the Vizio remote to change from cable to DVD mode using the INPUT button but it doesn't work. Is there another way to change the mode? Can I do it by hand somewhere?

Sure, normally on Vizio's the Input button is on the right hand side (looking at the front).

Hi:
Using remote locate a button called tv/video or Input, turn on the DVD player and hit this button until you see your DVD player Logo. Most dvd players use either video 1 or 2, or componet or HDMI outputs. Seems you have changed the TV's input back to TV mode and you need to change it to a video mode input.

My Vizio, when I turn it on the Vizio turns white, but the screen is black and there is no sound coming through

Have you tried hitting the 'input' button on the remote control?
Check the connections of external devices like an antenna, satellite, or cable that may be connected to the TV.
Press the TV button on the top of the remote to return to the TV mode if you have changed modes.

I clicked a button by accident last night and now my Vizio tv reads no signal and a small display in the top right corner reads AV. How can I get my tv to read cable signals again??

What input is the cable connected to? (Coax antenna In, component video, composite video)

Look on the remote or the TV itself for a button marked Source or Input. Press this. For some TVs, use the up/down arrows to select the input to which your cable is connected. (TV = coax) On other models, you may need to press the Source button several times to advance between inputs. (I'm assuming you have a remote that works for this feature on the TV; otherwise, use the TV button.)

I hope this helps.

(common modern TV setup: VCR on AV1, DVD player on Component 1, PC to the HDMI/DVI and coax to the antenna in. The source button is needed.)

I have a DVR from my cable company which I recently replaced. I have the cable coming to the DVR, then out to my RCA DVD recorder, then out from the DVD to my Vizio TV. I have an HDMI cable connection...

IT SOUND LIKE THERE SHOULD BE AN INPUT BUTTON ON YOUR CABLE OR T.V REMOTE TRY CHANGING THE INPUT. ALSO TRY PLUGGING DIFFERENT AUDIO AND VIDEO CABLES BETWEEN RECORDER AND TV. ALONG WITH YOUR HDMI.

P50 VIZIO WHEN ON HDTV I GET SNOW

it's probably the Time Warner cable box that have issue and not the TV. Try using a DVD player and test the same input, it should work fine.

I had the same problem. I could get an analog audio signal but no digitial signal. My problem was with the cable box setting. I have Cox Cable. With the Cable remote I went to settings/settings/Audio out and selected HDMI. Worked like a charm

Check the cable connections and/or replace the cables to the AV2 input.

If replacing the cable doesn't provide a solution, try running your DVD through the input. Since it works fine now, you would be checking the input AV2 by putting your working DVD. If the DVD plays with no problems, the input is fine.

Also try the VCR using coax into the TV instead of RCA into AV2. This will give you some idea about the condition of the VCR.

I suspect either the VCR or the cables.

How Do I Get a DVD to Work with This TV?

Make sure to switch the TV's tuner mode to Video or Aux mode.
You can change the mode using the original TV remote or directly from the TV's control panel.

Again, tuner mode picks up all live broadcast airwaves and Video or Auxillary mode displays what is inputed into the TV via second device..

Good Luck!
