Voltage regulator 2008 flh low voltage

have a load test done on the battery as it indicates low voltage

2008 Polaris Rzr has a known issue with the under-seat location of the voltage regulator. In that location it can't get enough air flow to keep cool. When overheated it protects itself by shutting down. During these periods you are running off the battery instead of the stator & regulator--this is what kills your battery and strands you far from the road.
Polaris corrected this in 2009 and newer by moving the regulator up front behind the grille but did nothing for 2008 owners. You can cut/splice an extension or buy one online. Google "Rzr regulator relocation".

If this is a briggs engine, depending on the type of charging circuit it has, the AC voltage from the stator under the flywheel should be around 28 to 30 VAC and the DC Voltage coming out of the voltage regulator with it disconnected should be around 14 VDC.. If the voltage is lower than 28VAC from the stator then it is a bad stator. If the stator voltage is good and the regulator is putting out less than 13 to 14VDC that the regulator is bad.

depends on the state of the battery , The regulator looks at the battery charged state and regulates the voltage to fully charge it , If the voltage does not drop back after a few hours the battery could be on the way out.

Check or change the fob battery...just did mine 09 flh..acted like yours...

It sounds to me like the voltage regulator is trying to decide what to do after the voltage draw from starting.
I would not be to concerned unless it stayed low.

Your alternator is on the way out,replace with new or rebuilt. you can remove alternator and have it bench tested to be sure.
