Question about E-Machines eMachines T3830 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Keyboard not found

The keyboard got unplugged. When I reconnected it and rebooted, I got the keyboard not found message. I did this several times. I plugged in a different keyboard and got the same message. My computer requires a password to unlock it. Any suggestions? Will a wireless keyboard work?

I double checked that and the mouse is connected to the correct connector. It works just fine. I disconnected the printer, reconnected it, and rebooted numerous times and got the same message - keyboard not found.

Is it a ps/2 or a USB keyboard? If its a USB keyboard it may be that the drivers won't load until you actually log into windows. Only fix is to boot with a ps/2 keyboard.

If its a ps/2 keyboard then you are probably plugging it into the mouse port. doublecheck your locations.

The keyboard is locked

Dear Sir,

plz folow this step to unlock keyboard

  1. Step 1 Check to be sure your "Number Lock" or "Function Lock" keys aren't lit. These can lock out certain parts of your keyboard. If either of these is lit, press them to unlock the locked portion of your keyboard. These can be found at the top right on a laptop and between the number pad and main keys on a desktop keyboard.
  2. Step 2 Save all open programs using your mouse. Use your mouse to restart your computer. This will only work if your computer isn't frozen. If your mouse doesn't move, press the power button on your Dell until the computer turns off. Press it again to restart. If the issue was lack of memory or a locked program, this will unlock your keyboard. Continue to Step 3 if the keyboard is still locked.
  3. Step 3 Shut down your computer using your mouse or power button. Don't restart. Unplug your Dell.
  4. Step 4 Remove the battery if you're using a laptop by turning the laptop over and sliding the battery release latch. Slide the battery out and replace after one minute.
For desktops, disconnect the keyboard from the desktop. Reconnect after one or two minutes.
  5. Step 5 Reconnect the power adapter or AC cord. Start your computer.
  6. Step 6 If your keyboard is still locked on a Dell desktop, disconnect the keyboard. Restart your computer and reconnect the keyboard after the system boots. Allow your operating system to recognize and reinstall the keyboard.

Keyboard has stopped working. have replaced batteries, tried to reconnect wireless channel and still nothing. I then rebooted and still nothing. Is is time to give up? Also, a side note the keyboard...

I have had the same problems on an XP configuration. You need to completely uninstall the Logitech drivers and first connect a wired keyboard.
Then reboot and follow the installation instructions for the Logitech keyboard/mouse combi. This probably means running the installer and then connecting the USB device.
It can actually take a few reboots before everything works, very annoying stuff.

I pressed the sleep button on my logitech S510 cordless keyboard and nothing will wake the computer. Not even restarting it. once it reboots it goes into sleep mode.

shut down and unplug the keyboard transmitter from the pc. now remove any batteries from the keyboard and depress several keys insuring the drainage of any stored voltage. reboot pc without the keyboard and then if haulted by error or after booting to windows shut it down, replace the batteries in the keyboard the plud in the keyboard transmitter and restart making sure all components are connected properly. this should rest the keyboard and the system as well.

Sounds like may be a stuck key on your keyboard, try unplugging keyboard long enough to see if it continues. If it turns out to be keyboard, try firmly (bang) each of the following keys several times: [Command] [Alt] left [Alt] right [Tab] [O]. Perhaps the function keys as well. I have had this "unstick" the problematic key before on different keyboards. Reconnect keyboard and see if that helps.

    Hello There,
    This problem is not common,
    Try these:

    1) Re-install the software - see what happens.

    2) Un-install the software if 1) doesn't work and try using keyboard.

    3) Read about common problems in the software and keyboard:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258826

    4) If all these fail then call Microsoft about this problem and let them diagnose it. They are the makers so they should know what to do.

    My keyboard

Is it just the ENTER key above the SHIFT key or is it also affecting the ENTER key on the numeric keypad also?

Is it a USB k/b? If so try unplugging it and rebooting PC then reconnecting it.

If it is a PS2 connection (usually purple round connector) then try a reboot only.

Ifthese things donot resolve the problem, you should try testing it on another PC as it most likely is faulty
