Vacum shuts off

If you have BISSELL vacuum, some of our models have a brush reset. Here are the instructions to turn it back on:

If something becomes lodged in the foot and the

brush shuts off, turn the cleaner off and unplug

from the outlet. Remove the obstruction. The

brush will automatically reset when the cleaner
is plugged in and turned back on.

Additionally, you could have dirty filters that are activating a thermal protector switch that shuts the vacuum off if the motor becomes too hot. If this is the case unplug the vacuum, clean any filters, clogs, or obstructions and wait 30 minutes for the unit to cool. Then plug the unit in and it should work. I hope this helps.

May not be your exact model but should be similar.

The Bissel vacuums include an internal thermal protector to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates, the cleaner will stop running. Should this happen proceed as follows:

1. Turn the cleaner OFF and unplug from electrical outlet.

2. Check the Pre-Motor Filter and Post-Motor Filter for dirt accumulation.

3. Remove any clogs.

4. When the vacuum is unplugged and motor cools for approximately 30 minutes, the thermal protector should automatically resets and cleaning may continue.

5. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner may need servicing. Call Bissell Customer Service:

Vacuum runs 10-11 minutes then stops if you unplug for a minute it then runs for another ten or so minutes then stops again I heard it was the bypass switch what can I do

Hi, I would say the motor is overhesting and there is a heat sensor in the motor that shuts it off w3hen its labouring. Check your hose for a clog . If that does not help check the filter aorund the motor to see if it is clean. Hope this helps. Chris

Vacuum won't turn on when plugged in and switch is turned on

The easy answer to this problem is you need a new cord. Any fit all 20 to 35 foot two wire cord will work. However, you will need to take disassemble the almost the entire vacuum to test the current cord to see if it is bad. There are a lot of pieces to take off to get to the inside of the vacuum where the cord enters from the back. You could also have a bad motor.

My fusion just stopped. i was vaccuuming and it

One item to check is this: This unit has a temperature overheat device.
Unplug the unit for 20 minutes, then plug in and turn on the switch. If there was a blockage in the hose/cup/filters, this could cause the overheating.

If this does not resolve the problem, it will need disassembled and checked with a continuity meter to determine the component that failed (motor, switch, cord, or TCO)

Bosch vacuum Motor turns off after a few minutes

It sounds like you have a motor protection fuse that resets after an overheat/cooling cycle. These work the same as a circuit breaker in your house with the difference being they can reset themselves. The Bosch will also shut down if there is insufficient airflow and I would check your filters first.1) Pull the filter and let the machine run.Do not pick up debris when you operate without a filter-it will be drawn straight into the motor. If it runs fine without shutting down, all you need to do is change your filter. If it shuts down again check the external hose for any blockages. Also check the throat from the powerhead for any blockages. If you continue to have the same problem then you will need to replace the fuse because at this point you have eliminated all the other likely problems.Good Luck-Scott

Electric motor does work when switch is turned on. Tried different electrical outlets but still not work.
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Dirt Devil 12 Amp HEPA filer vacuum cleaner. It sounds to me like you may have a 2 motor system according to the picture and it also sounds like it could be the bottom motor of which if it is not working well then it may need replacement – there is really nothing you can do for the brushroll motor other than replacing it. Question? Do you have any suction from the main motor? If you do then it definitely is the brushroll motor that needs replacement. You can always check your Royal owners manual under the trouble shooting guide or you can contact the Royal cust serv dept listed below. My Eureka Mighty Mite 3670 Bagged, was working fine, and we unplugged it to switch to another outlet in another room and it just stopped. We tried several other outlets and it just won't turn on. We thought maybe it got hot because we had been using it for a while and we let it rest for a while and then changed the bag just to be sure, although it was not full. But it still will not turn on. Any ideas……X

1 Other User Has the Same Problem Comment by Guest, posted on Jun 06, 2008 I had the same problem today. Have a 9 amp model I bought 10 years ago which I never use. It has been sitting for years. Today put in new bag and ran it continuously for 45 minutes. After I turned it of it wouldn't restart. Tried another outlet and wouldn't restart. Felt canister at back and motor housing was hot so I thought I might need to let it cool down. After letting vacuum cool off for 10 minutes it restarted. All I can assume is that the vacuum has a built in overheat sensor on the motor. Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Eureka Mighty Mite #3670 Bagged Canister. I have the same type Mighty Mite Canister and from what you are saying the must be some type of heat sensor that is shutting off the motor to protect it from excessive heat. Al of the old ones have had lower amps and did not needs the heat sensor but once the bag is full and the filter clogged; they will shut down as well. They all use a plastic hose to clean with and that even gets hot sometimes. So I suggest that you get an owner’s manual from the manufacturer on you particular model so that id if happens again, you will be prepared. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I assume you tried a different outlet? Otherwise you could have a problem with the cord, switch or motor. You will just have to check it over to find out what went bad.
