Question about Lexmark C510 Laser Printer

1 Answer

My Lexmark C510 keeps saying paper jam and has hardly grabbed the paper out of the paper tray. Also says "short paper". I called Lexmark who told me that I needed two parts: a paper feed roller (56P1655) and a searator pad (56P1656). It is not under warranty. My question is, can I change these parts myself, or is it "necessary" to pay to have it done by a shop?

If service were required, Lexmark would have offered to place the service call for you.

Go ahead and order the parts, if they look to complicated to install, then you can place a service. Most "C" level color lasers require on-site service and should not be taken to a dealer.

Always says paper jammed but there is no paper jaming inside

  • Power off the printer for 30 seconds. If the issue persist, follow the steps below.
  • Open the printers front cover and make sure to check for any paper left inside the printer.
  • Verify that you are using media within specification for the printer in terms of size and weight and that the paper is being fed from the appropriate input source.
  • Make sure the paper trays are loaded correctly. Incorrect loading of the trays can result in poor paper feed performance

My Lexmark C510 keeps popping up with a Paper Jam 241 error in Tray 1. There is no paper jam. I open the printer door take the tray out, put it back in and shut the door. How can I fix this problem? I...

I have a Lexmark C510 colour printer: Manufacture date June 2005.
I had been getting the "Paper Jam 241 error in Tray 1" message for some time. Sometimes it would print just fine but in the past several months, it's been bad. I'd pull the tray out (notice roller marks on the top sheet that was only partially fed), reinserted the sheet properly into the tray and try again and again. The techy at Lexmark mentioned that I could purchase a new rubber roller that feeds the sheet but that I might first wipe down the roller myself as they get worn and old. I first wiped it down with a damp cloth to clean it then thought to try reconditioning it with leather conditioner we'd purchased for our couch (I'm sure Amourall would work just as well). Voila, the old, dry roller was picking up paper again. Just open the rear door and that grey roller (it's black again when you recondition it) is at the bottom. Hope that helps.

The printer keeps saying paper jam. I am using 65 pound paper and I changed the setting to card stock. Is there a trick to loading the paper?

    Hello,
I believe that if the printer is having problems picking the paper up it could be due to the pick up roller not having enough strength to pick up such a heavy paper. What you can do is make sure that the printer has the latest firmware installed as well as that the paper is properly placed and adjusted in the tray.

    241 paper jam

Check the paper tray guides, check the the paper feed roller (remove the tray and look up in the printer) it is possibly worn and needs replacing, you can try to clean it (hand soap is as good as anything)

How do you open the rear door of the C510 to clear a paper jam?

Hi I hope you have this solved already... but you just grab the edges and pull from the top sides. It feels really weird, but it will be fine.

I agree - the guides inside the paper feed tray must be EXACTLY aligned with the paper size. This fixed my problem.

Lexmark c510---201 paper Jam helps empty my wallet

I daily repair Lexmark printers and 2 models that I work on have the same issues and in this case it turns out that the exit sensor is the issue though it is not the sensor itself. What I have found to be the problem is the sensor switch it has has a thin long arm that the paper trips and if this has been broken then the paper passing won't activate the sensor (usually this arm gets broken when there is a random paper jam and the toner and photodrum assembly are not removed before clearing the paper jam) Now there is a newer model that I have started seeing with a similar exit sensor issue but this on is just that the design is so bad that I recommend that the switch just be removed because it is just garbage and unplug/disable the sensor from the options board. Hope this is helpful.
