If it is leaking from the waste pump area it may be blocked by a small piece of clothing like a sock or something similar! This will also cause it to take too long to complete a cycle. Remove the rubber hose onto the waste pump and check inside the hose and the pump, make sure the pump spins freely and that nothing is stuck in the hose pipes leading to the pump

SOURCE: Samsung washing machine filter

it has a self cleaning filter. if you want to clean out the tub and filter thoroughly then:

  • run a cycle with no clothes using hot water and a gallon or two of bleach.
  • after the tub has filled up add a teaspoon or less of dish liquid like palmolive. this acts like a surfactant for the bleach.
  • make sure you also run an extra rinse cycle to make sure you have all the bleach out of the machine before putting clothes in.

How to clean filter

You need to post the make and model number. But if the filter is sticking then you may have to remove the hoses and clamps and screws that hold the housing and take the whole thing out. I have seen some serious issues with those and bobby pins causing jams etc.

Not getting water to washing machine hot or cold

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. We see allot of issues with this. If the water is on and filters where hose is hooked up are not blocked then you will have to replace the pressure switch temp selector switch. It is a combo switch. When you look it up by your model number order the temperature switch.

My washing machine is doing everything except spinning the spin cycle

This is most likely caused by the drain motor. Pull the filter out of the lower access panel. clean the filter and it should fix the issue

Hi, i had the same problem with this washing machine, i cleaned out the filter as you have already done & i also put soda crystals & white vinegar in the drum & washed on the hottest cycle, this cleans out all the build up. Theres no harm in trying it, hope it works for you too.

WD-J1255C SAMSUNG washing machine is washing but doesn't drain and spin. what could be the problem and possible solution? thanks

Best guess is a blocked filter. If the filter blocks, the machine won't drain and if it isn't drained, then the spin cycle won't kick in.

I'm not familiar with your machine, but chances are that there is a filter door at the bottom of the machine at the front that should be opened, the filter removed and cleaned.

I'm presuming that your machine is half full of water at the moment, so in order to remove the filter and clean it at this stage, you would do well to unplug the machine from the mains and then tip it backwards 45 degrees so that the water doesn't escape when you remove the filter! Best thing is to tip it back onto a chai if you are doing this alone, so the chair can take the weight while you undo the filter.

Now.... IF you are unlucly and have no filter in the front then go take a look underneath while it is tipped back. There will be a rubber hose that leads down to a debris trap, then on to the pump. You will need to unclip the spring clamp that holds this in place in order to get access to the debris inside. PROBLEM here: you are unlikely to do this without getting very wet!

I would suggest in this case, repeatedly putting the machine onto spin cycles, it will attempt to drain the water and slowly, bit by bit it will get the water out. Once it has drained (after attempting to put it through a dozen spin cycles probably) you should then be able to access the filter/debris without getting too wet!

If you do have a filter that is accessible through the small front door I described, I would suggest that you make it a monthly task to remove and clean it at the end of a wash cycle to avoid this issue in the future.

Crystal-like substance

It sounds like your water system might need some filter housings installed?-- are there any filter housings in any of your water systems?-- If so, what are they accumulating-- what do you find, when you change filters.
Write back what you are finding.. If you have no filters, then let's install either ONE on your common cold water supply to the house-- or start with two at your washing machine. Which would be easier?- Write back-- Mack Baxter

Hello. I think this is the looks

Well Bridie no there is no lint filter inside your washer the only possible explanation, is either old lint and particles are coming from previous washes. or you have just washed something recently that may have come apart such as a pillow, a mat with a rubber backing, or even a blanket with any sort of fiber material in it. It is more than likely that much of the lint that goes through your machine is unseen and can cause pump issues. hope this helps.
