would think the whine would happen when water is pumping out if bearing is bad. no noise when pumping out

You may have something stuck in 1 of the rotors you should be able to remove them if you can give both the rotors and housing a good clean i had a similar problem and found a few salt crystals stuck between housing and rotor if you can't remove them try an intensive wash cycle with the dishwasher empty

Hi,

might be the motor bearing went bad because the seal went out and dish water got to the bearing. If you are handy, this motor comes out after taking the dishwasher out. The motor has screws that holds it together, please took them out and took the motor apart.
please make old beaing off the shaft and put a new one by checking the specification of the bearing and normally it is 22mm x 8mm x 7mm bearing.

Good luck

Water refills when not on

We came home to a flooded basement because it appears the washer filled on its own when we were gone for several days and are in the middle of an investigation about why/how this happened. If anyone has any information on similar malfunctions please let me know. We purchased our machine on 1/22/05.

Sounds like there may be a mechanical problem and Maytag has some explaining to do...

Leaks water and is abnormally loud during spin cycle

Sounds like the bearings are broken. This is a serious issue and may be quite expensive. If your appliance still under warranty, contact the manufacturer for assistance. If not, don't be afraid to ask the customer service if they can provide some assistance to replace your washer (as the repair will be quite expensive), perhaps the manufacturer may be able to provide a rebate or something like that if they appreciate you as customer.

Good luck.

Maytag washing machine repair

The water pump may be going bad...Yes it probably is a bearing. Take the belt loose and try turning each pully until you find one that makes noise or is hard to turn. Pump and motor should both spin very easily with out noise.
