The printer can be stuck in double line mode, although it indicates that it is single line mode. Switch between the two modes, pressing " enter" and " clear ", until you are in single line mode again. Now you can change text size again.

If it displays error, it seems that the tape you have inserted in the machine does not fit the size settings that you've set. Try using a wider tape, or only change the size setting one step, to see if there's any difference at all or if you receive error on all changes.

Font size issue

Are you trying to print a two-line label?
If there are two lines of text, they are printed in size 1, regardeless the size you set.

Here is the procedure, described in the manual you can download from here:
http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/files/dlf/docp000113/pt1180ug01usen.pdf

Note:
• If there are two lines of text, they are printed with the SIZE1 setting applied,
regardless of the selected size setting.
• To quit the following procedure at any time without making any changes, press [BS/Clear] key.

1 Press [Function].
2 Press [<] and [>] until SIZE is displayed, and then press [Function] or [Backspace]. The current size setting appears in the display.
3 Press [<] and [>] and until the desired size setting is displayed.
4 Press [Function] (or [Backspace] ) to apply the selected size setting to the text.

Can't change the font style & size on my Brother PT-65 Label make

In case you've forgotten how to change the text size, hold down 'Code' and '& Size' key to display the current setting. While still holding the Code button, push and release the '&' key to change the size.

To reset, I would try removing the batteries for a few minutes before reinstalling them.

Just two guesses.

ERROR appears and won't print

What size tape are you using in the machine?  Some of the fonts won't work if you are using 1/4" tape.  It will say ERROR if you're asking it to print a larger size. This won't be a problem for you if you switch to 1/2" tape, or just use the two smallest font sizes.
Hope that helps!

Changing font size

Try changing the font size in Notepad/Wordpad/Microsoft Word. If that fails, then go to the settings on your printer, and it should have a default size on their that you can change. Change it to 0 and it will go to all sizes allowed.

Hope this helped -CA

Press "Line Out" to remove return character, It thinks you want to print on more than one line so is making font smaller to fit. Good luck.
