Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Bryant central air unit fan doesn't stop.

I have a older Bryant central air unit, and the blower inside is functioning as expected. The contactor on the unit outside is working as well when the thermostat kicks it on. However the fan doesn't stop running on outside unit.

This is a condenser fan and as long as the A/c unit is in cool mode, this fan will run. The only time it should shut off is when temperature setting is satified and the unit shuts off.

2002 4 ton Bryant air conditioner shuts off, fan still runs but not cooling is problem in the controls in the attic or in the AC unit or both?

With a non heat pump it is a simple 24 volt AC control circuit. In the attic there is a relay that is actuated via the fan control wire directly from the thermostat. On the thermostat there is an auto/man switch that controls the fan. Manual the fan runs all the time. Auto fan turns on and off with the outside compressor.

If the system is not calling for cool and the fan continues to run the fan relay is sticking. common problem. Sometimes after running for several days the relay will stop sticking if not, replace relay.

If the system is calling for cool and the compressor stops I would still expect the fan to run until thermostat tells the A/C to off. Some compressor units include a safety switch or high-pressure cut-out switch A blocked internal valve bad control board or external fan in outside unit defective no air flow in outside unit.
High pressure cut out not good,

Suggest turning temp max cool and observe. If acceptable cool and the compressor runs without interruption all is good, except for the blower in the attic. Safely check relay in attic blower circuit.

Hope this helps.

Cool air from home vents with central AC outdoor unit fan will not turn on. Inside home really loud when on!!

its look like blower problem , 1st check blower speed controller, check blower motor , check its ball bearing etc , its does not have any link to external unit .

Bryant central a/c working great, then suddenly inside fan not working, but outside unit on and pipe frozen.

sounds like inside coil froze due to low air flow. bad fan motor, fan relay, dirty coil or filter.

My fan is nto blowing on my outside unit. i hear a light hum coming from the unit.

Sounds like the contactor is pulled in, but no power to the condenser fan motor. Check power to motor (through the contactor & check the capacitor.

Do bryant condensing units have a reset button? We can't get the unit to kick on. All power is correct and fan starts inside, but can't get condensing unit to kick on.

Most Bryant units do not have a reset button but could have a low pressure or high pressure switch for a safety to protect the compressor. Verify power from the thermostat to the contactor by following the thermostat wires all the way to contactor inside of electrical compartment... TURN POWER OFF BEFORE OPENING.... If power is to contactor and contactor is pulled in then you would need to look at the capacitor of which is a canister about 6 inshes tall with wire terminals on top.. this part should be flat on the top and if it is rounded then thats your problem.. if not then contact a local company to troubleshoot and make necessary repairs.

Blower fan keeps shutting on/off,

Your blower fan turning on and off shows your thermostat is working. I am willing to bet you have the fan in the automatic condition. Check for a sticking contactor at the outside unit.
