No, That would be different. I would UNPLUG the machine and remove the glass. Then slide the lamp carriage back and forth to see what it is binding on. Could just be a cover or hitting a sensor in the scan path. On that machine there is a home position sensor that the lamp will often catch on. You would feel it hit the bracket when you slide the lamp back to the start position. It would hit about an inch or 2 before it locates all the way back to the left. If thats it, you have to carefully bend either the sensor bracket or the metal flag onthe lamp carriage itself to hit the sensor centered.

The Xerox is a business machine and has a setting to reduce the size of scans by percentage.

Read the instruction manual to turn it off or play with the buttons.

I HAVE A M20 XEROX PRINTER AND I AM GETTING A MESSAGE THAT SAYS OPEN HEATER ERROR WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

The heater rod (quartz lamp) inside the fuser roll is cut/ burned. Unfortunately Xerox will not support it as spare. You should buy a new
fuser.
Replacing it is easy. Just a few screws to take off on the right side plus two electrical plugs.

Paper jam in a Xerox Comy Centre C20

A couple of things.
There is a bushing at the front of the exit transport that fall out of the frame. That requires removing the scanner and looking in the exit transport that way.
You may also have something stuck in that transport. Take the fuser back out and then take a minella folder and push it through from above the fuser to the output area and see if it disloges anything. If not, then you have to pull the scanner off and look in that exit transport area for problems.

XEROX WORKCENTRE M20 WHEN POWERING UP MACHINE IT WILL NOT COME OUT OF WARM UP MODE. FUSER IS HOT. MACHINE DISPLAY WILL SAY WARMING UP, MACHINE WILL CYCLE, SCANNER WILL MOVE , PRINTING WILL APPEAR ON...

what you want to do is this, turn the machine off. Remove the back cover. Then on the main board you should see a memory stick or 2 depending on the model.
Remove the memory sticks, then power up the machine with them out. Let it come to ready, then re install the memory sticks and power the machine back up to remove any software corruption.

Xerox M20I SCANNER

You can only do scanning on an M20i with a USB or parallel cable. That machine does not support scanning via an ethernet cable.

An E7 is related to the scanner. The lamp carriage is gettiing hung up on something or a cable has broken or popped off a pulley. What I have seen most of the times, is the lamp carriage is hitting the sensor that tells the machine the lamp is in the ready position. Biased to the left side of the machine. remove the platen glass and see if you can move the lamp fairly easily. And when movine it back to the left, pay attention if you feel it hitting something.
Also here is the procedure to clear the code.
Performing a Fault Reset 1 01 will reset your Scanner, and allow you to check the Scanner for broken parts as it moves.
  1. Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
  2. Find the button below the word Auto.
  3. Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
  4. Press the [1's] Key to enter 1 in the LED Display, as if you were to make 1 copy.
  5. Press the green [Start] button. '00' will flash in the LED Display.
  6. Press the [1's] Key to enter 01 in the LED Display, as if you were to make 1 copy.
  7. Press the green [Start] button. '01' will be in the LED Display and '100%' will be selected.
  8. Lift the Document Cover.
  9. Press the green [Start] button. The Scanner Bar should move from left to right under the Platen Glass.
  10. Visually check the Scanner Bar as it is moving to make sure it runs all the way across.
  11. Check the Mirror that follows the Scanner Bar to see if it is broken or cracked. NOTE: If you need to see the Scanner Bar and Mirror move again, press the green [Start] button again.
  12. Press the pink [Clear] button four times.
  13. The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.

I have a WorkCentre XK35c/25c that I now use just as a copier.(Not hooked up to computer) When turned on it has power but when you hit start it sounds like it is going to copy as the light bar goes across...

The scanner for the flatbed has failed to properly move. The rails may be dirty, or the motor may be binding. Additionally there is a home sensor switch that must be activated when the scanner is initialized. Finally, when the copy button is pressed, does the lamp on the scanner come on within a few seconds?

If not, the scanner lamp may have failed.
