Question about Epson WorkForce WF-3540 Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner, 2-Sided Duplex, ADF, Fax
What is Error Code 0x9D
Posted by Anonymous on
After spending some truly quality time in the Epson Tech support Disservice Dept and being bumped up to Supervisors, I can tell you that error code 0x9d is a mechanical hardware problem requiring repair. It is not explained in any of their support material or even information available to their first tier of tech support. They do not care about this omission so do not spend money on replacing the maintenance box or replacing cartridges if/when you are directed to as I was. Do not spend hours of your time troubleshooting. A part needs to be replaced by someone who knows what they're doing.
This is direct from Supervisor level at Epson after hours of wasting my time. I suppose it's possible that the vagueness of 0x9d could be attributed to other issues as well but I would like to save you the time of jumping through all the hoops I have.
If your warranty is up the best they will offer you is 15% off a new Epson and a new set of cartridges for whatever new Epson printer you buy and send proof of purchase. I wasted well over $100 dealing with this issue - not to mention my time - so - what a deal to stay with Epson...
NOTE: If you want to file a complaint you can call 562-276-4382 or write a physical letter and send it to Epson America, MS2-50, 3840 Killroy Airport Way, Long Beach CA 90806 - Corporate doesn't do any electronic communications - pretty high tech for a technology company.

0x9D is a stuck ink cartridge holder (carriage). Turn the printer off. Open the scanner to expose the carriage. When it moves to the left during post up stop it by pulling the power cable. Move the carriage it all the way to the left, close the scanner and then power it up. It should move freely now and work normally.

Hi my printer was ackting like the head clogged. It had been sitting unused for awhile. I took out the print head and cleaned it. Now I'm getting this error message. Any ideas?

I use an Epson Workforce WF-7110 the 0x9D error relates to the Maintenance box that collects the waste ink, it has reach it counter limit. This will need to be reset somehow, or by replacing the Maintenance Box by buying a new one from a seller. product code is T6711, if you google that you should be able to find it. Epson sell it for £16.99 + £24.99 Postage. So do some shopping around locally to your area. I just received a new Waste Ink Box this morning, swapped it over and printer started back up and printed no problem at all.
