Question about Sony KP-46WT510 46" Rear Projection HDTV
Hello, I have been reading these forums for a couple weeks and have come to the conclusion that I am having convergence issues on my KP-46WT510. What I can't figure out is for the last couple months the screen has been displaying a red hue that is barely visible with a picture, but is very bright when the screen is blank. In addition, there are red "arcs" on the screen. Just a couple weeks ago the picture will be displayed for about 5 minutes and the red hue completely takes over the image. Are these problems something I can take care of myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but besides the convergence issues you have a bad red picture tube. Us techs refer to your problem as a 'floating grid' in the red picture tube. More bad news is that the tube is no longer availible. The only solution is to have a professional remove the red tube assembly and ship it off for rebuild. A company called Video Display does this work reasonably and I've sent several to them with great results. It takes about three weeks and the whole repair is very spendy, around $400 to $500. Sorry for the bad news.
