I recently gave a so called computer wizz feind my acer lap top as it would take forever to load. i wanted it set back to brand new as it was second hand. he re set the hard drive put windows xp on it. now on start up the screen quickly flashes up the acer logo then screen goes blank. when i hit the esc button for too long it makes a beep sound ans every key pushed after that beeps like the low battery alarm beep. dont know how to go from here as i cant afford to take it somewhere else and was hoping to fix it myself. he mentioned looking for the bios if that helps, he said it works if its plugged into a monitor but there is nothing wrong with the screen as it appears on start up.

Re: lap top bungle
Try accessing the operating system via safe mode (F8 on startup) if it opens, then your friends maybe installed a driver that conflicts with your system video driver. if this doesn't solve the glitch, reinstalling the operating system might do the trick.

Yes you need to install the operating system back to your computer and you also need to install the drivers and the programs on it. New hard drives are blank. After installing everything up, don't forget to add a premium anti-virus. That's very important. You should also add a tech software like RadarSync so that you won't have to worry about getting your computer's drivers updated.
Download a file called Codec, http://www.free-codecs.com/ on the left is codec pack - the XP version is great and a few of the others have been great too Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

I have had the same poblems after buying my lap top from Currys. I emailed acer and all they would say is that all of the warranties have been taken over buy PC WORLD who are the same company. They then said that i should contact the tech guys. The tech guys tell you to restore to factory settings which tales off anything that you have already put on the computer. I then contacted the software tech guys £1.50 a minute line and the bloke i spoke to said that it was the fourth call that he had recieved that morning and the advice that he gave me was to return the computer as it was less than a month old and state that it was not fit for purpose. I took the lap top back to Currys and explained what i had been told to do. In the end they installed Power DVD 8 on my computer which allows me to play all blu rays on the computer. However i still can't connect the acer up to my HD eady tv without it freezing. It appears that the software supplied is absolutely **** but acer are happy to let you get on with it. The only real solution is to obtain third party software and update your graphics drivers. In time hopefully acer will release better edition of the pre installed software.
It is a real shame as the laptop is great apart from this blu ray issue which seems to be a well known problem as it is mentioned on many forums.
I hope this assists
The game could be NOT for your system. If your system is for examble: Windows_XP 533 mhz 35 MB RAM The GAME: Win_xp 1.2 Ghz 500 MB RAM or a different o/s [operating system] lets say Playstation, or XBOX ?? Look on the side of the box to see what the games call for>
I had this problem on my PC and I tried everything from updating drivers to re installing the software and updating my graphics card but nothing seemed to work.
And then as a last resort I right clicked on the icon on my desktop and chose properties and clicked on the Compatability tab and unchecked on display settings Run in 640x480 screen resolution.
This worked and did not affect the webcam in anyway.
