Question about NetGear : WG111 54 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, RETAIL (DSNGWG111)

Netgear wireless connection

I have recently changed computers, set up Netgear DSG834 router on vista pc - no problems, wireless adaptor (WG111v2) on XP computer.  The connection shows as excellent strength and connected.  When I start internet explorer it doesn't connect and I have to unplug the adaptor and reconnect it - this is obviously frustrating, any ideas?

The problem is the connection cannot be made when I first switch on, I have to unplug the adaptor and reconnect then check that the 'Use windows to configure my wireless network settings' box is checked, then if the computer feels like it, it will connect.

Check the wireless IP address on the XP computer. try to ping default gateway and see whether its giving succesfull reply, after that do ping and check successfull pinging. if it pings successfully the yahoo website , then you should go online.

I cannot access internet through my di-524 router. My wireless adapter is a netgear wg111v2.

Is there any other computer online through the same router ?
if yes then the router must be working.
If there is no other computer , then you will need to connect the computer to the router and check the wired connection first. If that works then there must be problem with the wireless connection.
open the router set up and check the wireless settings of the router.

NETGEAR Wireless G USB Adaptor Problems

I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<" yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)

I tried to connect netgear WG111v2 but got problem istallation is not able to connect wirelesly

Uninstall any software the router came with on any of the computers, it's not needed.

Reset the router by holding down the small pinsized hole in the back for 20 seconds.

Make sure modem is hooked up to router IN port.

Make sure all Windows updates are installed in a PC.

Make sure wireless card switch is in the on position.

DO NOT encrypt anything at first, try connecting under an open network. Meaning do not change any of the routers factory settings. If you can connect, continue form here to encrypt. Hope this helps!!!!
