Same problem I have the same problem and it SOOOOOOO ANNOYING AAGGGGHHH!! I disabled tapping the first day I got the laptop but it still causes me problems. freezing up, moving when you don't want it to etc etc. I should have sent the damn thing back when I got it but it was an intermittant problem and I didn't think it was worth sending it back. I now use a usb mouse instead but it really annoys me coz I shouldn't have to.

Try reinstalling the driver for your touchpad. I had the same problem with my HP laptop. If you talk to an online chat technician, and he tells you to update the bios, DON'T. You only need to update the touchpad driver and it should all work out. If you have any problems, repost and i can try to help some more.

Hp laptop synaptics touchpad light comes on and shuts off pointer

Had this problem before, very annoying! On mine the idea was double tap to disable the track pad and then double tap again to activate it... In reality tapping rapidly in the area around the LED until the LED shut off seemed to work.

In short; double tap the LED to reactivate the track pad. If that doesn't work tap several times in quick succession until the LED turns off.

Good luck!

Touchpad and extern mouse working at the same time. Very annoying. Have tried all i can to disable the touchpad. Have an Compaq Presario CQ62

Try this website to down load a .pdf manual for your laptop.

h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02641795.pdf

Look closely at the touch pad, in the top left hand corner of the pad you should see a little white led shining away.

Tap the led twice, it should turn orange, you've disabled your touch pad, to re-activate it, tap it twice again, this should bring the white led back on.

Does this happen when loading booting or loading windows? If this happens when loading windows, try disabling start programs and services.
press windows button, and then r
then type msconfig
press startup and then disable un-necessary programs that are starting up. leaving your anti virus.
also press services tap and hide all microsoft services, disable other services that you see there leaving your anti virus.

I am having major problems with my sony vaio laptop curser. It keeps jumping when am typing. Can you help?

1. Disable the touchpad tapping feature.
a. Click on start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Under Devices and Printers option, select the Mouse option.
b. Click on the Tapping tab, then, disable the tapping feature.
If the tapping tab is not available, then reinstall the touchpad drivers and disable the tapping feature.
You can reintsll the touchpad drivers either using the VAIO Care Software in the computer or from the support page of your notebook.

Hp Paviliion dv4-1365dx .....When I type all of a sudden the cursor will jump and I'll be typing into what I have already typed (just did it)....very frustrating HELP!

Unfortunately the touchpad of most laptops is very sensitive. This will cause the slightest nudge of the thumb or wrist to move your mouse and possibly even "click". In order to avoid this issue and associated frustration, I always 1) disable the touchpad when I have an external mouse plugged in and 2) disable the "tap click" feature. Follow the instructions below for these two suggestions.

Disable touchpad

  1. On my system there is a small button just above the touchpad that disables it, yours might as well. If not, go to Start>Control Panel> Mouse>Device Settings>and Device. Highlight the Disable Button.
  2. Follow the same steps as above but instead of Disable button select Device button and select the Tapping option and unselect "enable tapping".
Good Luck,

Acer Vista Laptop and cursor nightmare!!

Hi -
I've been having the same problem and it is MAJORLY annoying to be typing along, and have the cursor reappear on another line!

I had a heck of a time finding the place to disable the touchpad, since we use a USB mouse with the laptop. Turns out, someone else helped me find a simple way - hold down the Fn key (next to the left side CNTRL key), and hit F7. That toggles the touchpad off/on easily!

Also suggested by someone else, some mice can cause erratice behavior with Acer laptops, so perhaps try another mouse?

So far, I've been typing this response AFTER disabling the touchpad, and the cursor has not jumped around at all.

Good luck! : )
