Xbox 360 open tray error.

Ok 90% of the time your console gives you the open tray icon when it tries spinning clean disks is because the laser has gotten to weak to read them. Your options are buy a new dvd drive or pot tweaking the laser which is relatively easy if you are not afraid to go hands on with electronics.

honestly if you do not know much about electronics I would recommend just buying a new xbox dvd drive for like 20 bux off of ebay. But you will still have to open the xbox to figure out what drive you have and to actually swap it

You have dirty laser or bad laser or dirty disc drive period. Try cleaning laser with qtip. If that doesnt work keep the disc drive apart and hook it up to the 360 make sure not to let your disc drive ground out anywhere on the 360. Hit eject button and close tray seeing if the laser even goes up with the tray. If it doesnt try greasing the rails and gears in there where everything slides.

This is the Open Tray error which basically means that the laser is messed up or your disc is gone. Solution one: Make sure that the disc is clean. Two: Try other discs if it doesnt work choose 3,4 or 5. Three: Buy a new console (Recommended) Four: Send off to microsoft and they will charge you (EXTREMELY NOT RECOMMENDED) Five: Open up and replace laser (NOT RECOMMENDED)

Try blowing the Cd rom out with tray open might just have some dust on the eye if that dont work keep opening and closing the Disc tray is that doesnt work call xbox ( 1-800-4my-xbox )

You can try to Clean with dvd cleaning kits...if doesn´t work..the only way fix is to disassemble the 360 and force the dvd laser adjusting the micro pot...located under the laser unit..But you will loose warranty and I think that the best way is to send your game console to microsoft...what hurts is that $140,00 you can buy 02 or even 03 xbox drives on ebay. Choose the best way! Good Luck!

The optical drive on the xbox wears over time. Call 1-800-4MYXBOX and get a repair scheduled.

Your problem is that your Xbox 360 cd drive, the ray inside it is scratched, get a cd drive cleaner and it will be fixed.

Dont know if this was just me But this fixxed mine, but I think was my Fault.. I was getting "Open tray Error on all games so Took apart Xbox 360 and DVD drive and Cleaned the LOT, everything, even the Lens with a cotten Bud.. After I put it back together the Disk would Not spin at all.. it did before :( I took thr DVD part again and the centre curcle, where the disks sits to spin. I tried rotate as it would spinning a disk and It was hard, well alittle hard for a finger so impossible for a Drive, after spinning it clockwise afew times it got nice and Loose, was spinning very easy. Put the 360 together again and BAM, Spins perfectly and best of all, NO "open tray error" Yay :) hope this helps

Try opening the disk tray with the 360 off. Push a paper clip into 1 of these holes in your 360. It will pop the tray out. Grab the tray pull it out all the way. Put a game in, leave it open! Then turn your 360 on see if it boots the game.
"Your Disk tray might be going bad. It might be fixable but I will have to try it out on a bad drive which iI dont have at this time."
