F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

But please note that for some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

Feel free to contact us with your full model number and we can tell you if yours is one of these models, and if so, we'll also give you the part number you need to order and a link to the best priced supplier.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Magic chef microwave just stopped heating, can you tell where the fuse is so i can check it, and i am open for any suggestions. model # hdm111ow

Sounds like the magnetron has failed, if it were the power supply or capacitor or fuse, it would have failed to heat straight away, not faded out. Probably more economic to replace the machine.

What is the first thing to test on my micro that is acting up?

Microwaves are not very user friendly when it comes to servicing the. They generate very high voltages and are very dangerous to try to repair without the proper training.

Maytag microwave going crazy

< - Let ME know your full model number from the tag and I can give you complete detailed instructions on how you or a friend can fix it.

"SE" means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

The oven makes a loud humming noise when turned on, doesnt heat food, everything else works

This is most likely a bad magnetron, but it could also be a bad high voltage diode.

I would check out this website
http://www.applianceaid.com/micro.html

Or you could call a local Appliance Repair Technician

When we start it does not heat up the food.

If it doesn't make any loud noise when it turns on check the micro switchs on the door
one is not operating and is putting the microwave in the safe mode. It thinks the door is open.
at 6 bucks each change them all. just use the right ones at the 3 different locations.they come out of. No power and do one at a time and remove the micro holder from the microwave it's easyer to work on. Take note to the McDs microwave behind me....

Spacemaker beeping loud and f3 message driving us crazy

The error code F3 indicates an oven sensor problem. The oven sensor is most likely the failed part. The oven sensor probe must have the correct resistance readings at specific temperatures. When the electronic range control (ERC) cannot identify the correct resistance of the oven sensor or the resistance is way out of specs F3 will display.
I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.

Microwave does not heat. Strange noise coming from motor. Everything seems to be working but does not heat food at all. Loud buzz or hum coming from unit.

You may have either a bad filament transformer or a bad magnetron tube.. and if you are referring to a table top model .....then the cost to repair may be more than the cost to replace.. so consider that into your decision.. Table top microwaves are relatively inexpensive now..

If you are referring to an over the stove combination micro/vent system then you may want to get it repaired by a certified appliance technician. There is high voltage inside the electronics compartment and by opening the cabinet, you may not reassemble it correctly and compromise the shielding in which case you may be exposing family members to microwave energy... Not good..
Hope this helps..

Microwave made a loud pop, won't heat, sounds like it's only on half power, makes a low intermittent hum

This is almost certainly a blown high voltage diode.

Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
