Question about Maytag 30" Built-In Single Electric Wall Oven - Black

Maytag wall oven Model # MEW6530DDS control panel failing

Some selections for the control panel don't work. Only a couple of selections are OK ( now we can only roast using the workable numbers). Also the light now stays on and will not turn off.
If this is simply grease and dirt build-up in the panel, can it be cleaned? If so, how do I remove the front panel cover to clean it?
Thanks

HI, unfortunately, it is not just dirt, this is a faulty touch pad that is combined with the control board. most touch pads are separate parts that are clipped in front of the circuit board but, in this case, the touch pad and control board are one piece. You will need to replace the entire control board in this case. the touch pad is faulty.

We have same unit and have had the exact same problem. reading from the customers' comment, I truly believe this is a design problem with the touch panel by Maytag. For ours, the touch button just went out one after another through a period of a year. We took it out last night and saw there is no fix of the panel. Will order a replacement but it is very expensive since you can only buy the whole panel. Terrible design!!!

I have a very similar oven from Maytag. Had it for 1.5 years before it started to break down. The initial problem was we lost the function of a couple of buttons on the control panel. The cost to replace the control panel was about $400.00 with about $250 for the part and the rest for labor. The buttons weren't all too important (self cleaning, clock, warm) so we kept using the oven instead of paying to have the part replaced.
Our repair guy is cool and tells me the problem with the control panel is that Maytag didn't insulate the computer boards so when you kick up the heat in the oven by using the broil or self cleaning feature, you melt some of the contacts or components. He says we can check appliance repair chat rooms for more information. Sure enough, I found this problem occurs a lot for Maytag. Man they must be making a killing off these parts. I agreed to have my control panel replaced, but told my repair guy if it goes out again, be prepared to install a non-Maytag oven. He gave me all the dimensions of our oven cavity so I can pre-shop for a new oven.

Only some of the keys on the keypad of my oven work. I have replaced the control board (computer board), but they keys still don't work. What specific part do I need to replace?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. You didnt have to change the computer you need to replace the control panel. The control panel is the whole front piece which has the touch membrane on it. This is common on these units.

I have a Magtag wall oven MEW6530DDS model. The panel buttons do not work. I've had the oven about 3 yrs. Do I need to replace the control panel or control board?

The control board. As long as none of the buttons appear to be stuck. Press each button one at a time feeling for the retraction or click. If this checks good replace the control board. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenerc.html

I have a Maytag Wall Oven bought 4-28-2006 Model MEW6530DDS SN 13363140EP. The control panel has stopped functioning. Can I get an estimate of parts and labor? Sincerely, Jack...

Price of the part is $208 and average labor rate is $78. Most companies also charge a service call fee, this is the charge to come to your home diagnose the problem. This fee can vary from 0 to usually no more than $75. Be sure to ask when calling for service. For a DIY try this link http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenerc.html

HI. This will be the actual control board in this case, that will be the culprit. the control board, and touch pad, are integrated. These symptoms are indicating that the key pad membrane is damaged. This will require you to replace the entire control board. Once the control is replaced, these issues will be corrected.

Gas oven electrical hookup issue

Hello. I can help you. What you have there at the wall is a circuit with 120 volts of power available. Your Gas oven requires 240 volts of power, thus the additional [red] wire. That said, they do not match up.

You will have to run a 240 volt wire from your electrical panel to rear of your stove opening with the correct circuit breaker in the panel, the correct amperage wire to the stove, the correct receptacle for the stove and the correct plug on the stove.

This is serious electricity here so do not proceed on your own as you could get seriously hurt or worse.

Front Panel Buttons not responding

The touch control panel is a piece of ****! Call MAYTAG, and get a new one, you should still be under warranty. Make them send you the part direct ( its the WHOLE front top panel ), then call a tech to put it in for $50 bucks. Takes about 10 minutes to do. The panel plugs into the electrical Board behind the panel.

FYI...the Top panel includes the Stainless Panel + the Touch controls! Its all one integrated part. The part that goes bad is the "cable contacts" that latch to electrical panel.
FYI....the Cable is made of "thin clear film " similar to Film you put in a Camera.
