How to control volume

You declined to specify the make and model of your player, so I'm assuming it has a control dial on the front. "Turn" the dial clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease the volume.
If your player doesn't have a control dial on the front, please reply to this post and specify the make and model of your player.

How do I turn off the beepers on my Bosch washer

To turn the beep off (or volume down) on the Exxcel 7 (BOSCH WAE24468GB you do the following:
1. Turn setting dial to off. 2. Turn dial one step clockwise (wait for panel to light) 3. Keep finger on 'RPM' button and turn dial another step clockwise and release finger. 4. The default setting of '2' should appear on the display, this represents the Button Signal Volume 5. Pressing 'Ready in' button cycles through the volume settings from 0 (off) to 4 (very loud!). 6. Turn dial another step clockwise to set the 'Information Signal Volume', which is also set to '2' by default. This is the one that annoys everyone at the end of the cycle!
All the manuals are on the Bosch website, if you know the model code.

Purchased your A/V reciever NS-R5101 yesterday. When I removed it from the carton I noticed that Master Volume Dial has no stops in either direction. Dial turns continually in clockwise and counter...

This type of volume control is often called an encoder. Basically it is a control for an electronic volume control chip. Rather than a vairable resistor like the "old fashioned" volume controls, this one basically is a rotary on/off switch. As you turn it the internal fingers pass over copper bars causing quick on/off sequences. These are interpreted as vol up and vol down.

Realise that this is an over simplification, but is essentially how it works. Your unit is fine.
