Question about Poulan 42-Inch Steel Deck 17.5 HP Briggs & Stratton I/C Engine With 6 Speed

Same problem: tapping carbureator with golf putter gets me more..

I have the same problem. I have emptied & cleaned gas tank, lines, & filter. I still have a stall-out problem. I have since found that carrying a golf putter & removing hood so I can reach out & tap the carbureator allows me to go again for another 15 minutes or so.

I assume I need to empty & clean carbureator. Any idea on the Briggs & stratton engine number? Poulan PO17542LT rider, 17.4 horse.

I'd like to order a gasket/repair kit.

The model number should be 31C707-0005-G1. This should help you get a carb. Probley just as cheap as a kit.

20 hp intek will only run as long as pour gas in carb, tried 2 other carbs, with same result.

Hi there it seems as if you have a blocked fuel delivery line, take a look at the supply by means of elimination first take of the pipe going to carb from tank and see if there is a supply of fuel, if not take of the tap at tank side of fuel pipe be sure to part empty the fuel tank first then inspect the taps filter give a good clean with a air line make sure you blow through the whole tap as well as the filter, this should help your problem and get you running again.

Ran out of petrol put fresh petrol in and now it wont start

I think that your fresh fuel was full of water. I have heard that gas is usually good for about 30 days. The biggest problem is not the gas but the condensation in a gas can that is slowly getting emptied. This condensation builds up on the side of the gas can and drips down and into the gas. Pyshics makes water heavier than gas so the water will always be at the bottom, same in your mower tank, same in your mower fuel bowl.
Get a clear container and remove fuel line from the carburator, empty the fuel tank completely. Remove the bowl off the bottom of your carburator CAREFULLY so as not to damage the round gasket. Empty and wipe the bowl. Replace the clean bowl, fill with fresh gas and you will be able to proceed again. Before I wish you luck, look at the fuel you emptied into the clear container. If you see something at the bottom of all that gas, that would be your water problem. I hope this will help, GOOD LUCK.

How do i drain old gas from the motorcycle

you will need to remove ur seat in order to get to the bolt or clip down that holds the rear of the petrol tank to frame.make sure the fuel tap is off & remove the fuel line going from tank to carburator then remove tank & empty the old gas out.there should also be a drain bung/bolt on bottom of ur carburator bowl, undo this let all gas empty out, then re-tighten & then reverse steps to put tank back on.Fill with fresh gas try start, check for any leaks & should be good to go!

Riding lawnmower wont run long

Check for dirt in gas tank some times stuff will fall in when filling and block the hole in bottom of gas tank and wont let gas flow clean everything out and see if it works. Also check that all kill switches are tight and not moving.

Gas line needs to go thru buttom of gas tank on sears weed wacker

Take your old line to a lawn mower parts store, ask for a new gas line of the same size. I would buy about a foot long. Push the line in the tank down into the tank(doing this with the tank empty), remove gas cap, turn upside down, a filter and your old line will fall out. Press the new gas line through the hole, push enough through that it comes out of the filler hole, place filter onto the new line, drop into tank, cut off excess and reattach to the carburator.

TB20CS gas trimmer, primmer bubble won't pull in gas

The carburator has a sereis of one way check valves that get cloged very easily.
If you remove the carburator and clean it out with a simple cleaning solution you should be able to clean it up.Do not use compressed air.

Where is fuel filTER

There is only one line (tube) that goes from the gas tank to the carb. If there is a fuel filter it will be on that line. To check if it is plugged just pull the line off where it attaches to the carb. If you spill gas, that is not the problem. Replace the line and be sure to clean up the gas. Sounds to me like a carburetor problem, though.
