Question about KitchenAid KUDR24SE Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

I have a KitchenAid dishwasher, KUD? which is about 9 years old. I will start with the fact that I have EXTREMELY HARD water, no water softener in the house... So, I have tried MANY different detergents, now use Finish with the ball in the middle, but still, I get these RUST stains on ALL my stainless steel dinnerware, even if they are NOT touching in the racks. How do I stop this staining and how can I remove the stains from ALL my stainless now?! Please help! Thanks!!!

SOURCE: Kitchenaid, new dishwasher, stopped cleaning top rack dishes

The problem most people encounter with dishwashers is a simple inability to get the dishes clean. There might be stuck-on food or residue from the detergent. A water pressure problem may be the culprit. You may need to replace the water intake valve. Another common problem is mineral build-up. If your house has hard water, the mineral build-up can clog the water jets. Clear each jet with a wire or pin, and run an empty load with some vinegar in the detergent dispenser about once a month.

Sometimes, the dishwasher has problems draining properly. There could be a clog in the drain hose, or a problem with the pump. It's also possible that the dishwater is getting too sudsy, and sensors in the washer aren't detecting the soap foam as water. This causes it to shut down the drain cycle too early. Just use less detergent.

ensure spray arm holes are not blocked, the water level is good, the spray of water is strong, it is heating and the tablet is entering the wash, not much else can cause a bad wash. note dishwasher may not always be able to get rid of some coffee stains.

SOURCE: How do you remove the upper dishwasher rack? It's

The upper rack is held by four side brackets. They are not removable unless you pull the dishwasher out from under the cabinet. Not very homeowner friendly.

Why does my Kitchenaid dishwasher model 8524569 run so long?

It is likely the heater is not working effeciently and takes a long time to heat the water to the set temperature. Try and run the rinse cycle and see if that takes much shorter as this does not need to heat the water. Please provide the full model number- xxx. xxxx or KUD..etc.

Hard water in dishwasher

If you have hard water you can check on water softeners that hook into your water system.

KUD 101 JBL0 kitchenaid dishwasher fills with water then just hums. When I hit the cancel/drain button the water does drain.

Before you go ordering any new parts, have you made sure that the dishwasher is LEVEL. Surprisingly this is a very finicky thing with dishwashers and I even went as far as replacing my float switch before realizing that the dishwasher was slightly out of level. Once I straightened it out the dishwasher was totally fine. Just to be sure, I skewed it in another direction and had the same problem. Like I said, give it a try (front to back AND side to side) and you might be in luck!

White residue on dishes and inside of dishwasher. 1 and 1/2 years old

Hi
White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

How do I go about getting a manual for this dishwasher it is 2 years old. When washing glasses it has a film never looks clean. I have changed dishwasher soap and I am also using the other airdry. Not...

Manuals are usually available on line. The film could be from hard water. Check with local municapal authorities and see. If the local water hardness level above 9 then a water softener is required.

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher with stainless steel inside and I am having trouble with white residue on my plastics and flatware. What can I do to prevent this?

it's either:
  • a problem with water softener if you have one. get it serviced.
  • water is too hard and you don't have a water softener, check water hardness and install water softener if necessary
  • too much detergent used, try using less
  • too much or too little rinse aid liquid used. Adjust, test, repeat ;)
Hope this helps,

We have a kitchenaid KUDS25SHBL1, serial number FK1130619. It doesn't work well and we think it might be old. It came with the house, so we're not sure the year. How can we tell? We appreciate your help:)

Residue left on dishes after washing. Looks like mineral deposits. Unsure if this is a dishwasher or water softener problem. Also rinse aid dispenser not working. Light that tells you to add does not work.
