Your optical block is going bad. Contact Sony support with your model, serial, and date of purchase. They sometimes will warranty these after the 1yr warranty has expired.

It is an Optical Block Problem, Sony has settled several Class Action Lawsuits covering many models from 2002-2010. Start with this Link, it will provide you a very good starting point. Hope this helps

After replacing the bulb, we had a blue colored shape in the middle of the screen, it has now changed to the color yellow and has become larger. I am curious as to what that means?

I don't have a solution but I just purchased the exact same thing which arrived a week ago and I have the same problem. I just have a blue shape in the middle of the screen shining through. I called SONY but they were closed for the day. Trying to find a solution on-line. Maybe we got a bad batch of lamps??

Yellow spot in middle of screen (sony-large screen-hd)

Sounds like the optical block (the projector part of TV is failing) The block cannot be repaired it has to be replaced. It can easily cost several hundred dollars to fix. Sony did extend the warranty on some models, you can try going on their website to see if your model is covered or not. good luck!

How do I find out which lamp is blown? My screen has a lot of yellow throughout it. It is a Sony KDF-E50A10.

It is dlp tv that has one lamp as back light source. Yellowish tint is problem of Optical Block Unit (commonly known as light engine) that will be replaced to fix it.
Local tech will help you in optical block unit replacement because it is purely job of qualified tech.
Thanks.

Yellow ring on screen of KDF-E50A10 Sony Wega

The optical engine has a build up of dust. This can cause yellow shapes and blotches to appear. It is no easy task on this model to dismantle and clean the engine.

Some of these models have this problem from production.
I would recommend to contact SONY and tell them the problem they may be able to fix your TV at no cost, since some of their Light engines have a recall but I'm not sure if your model number is one of those.

If you want to fix the TV yourself you need to replace the light engine and that requires advanced skills for this product

hope that was helpful
thank you
