Question about Lenovo 3000 Y410 Notebook

2 Answers

I have been using a lenovo 3000 Y410 for the past 1 year. Excellent performance. I keep it on most nights also for torrents, etc. A few days back i started encountering a wierd problem. The computer just switches off!! It happens in safe mode as well as command prompt. Sometimes it goes off on startup. Sometimes it goes on for hours before konking off. I tried out the heating issue, but i dont think thats the problem because yesterday, i kept really heavy apps running on for more than an hour. The cpu usage was consistently at 100% and ram at about 1.6gb (i have 2gb of ram). Nothing happened. Then i restarted and in 5 minutes it went off again. I even tried One key recovery but it again went off while i was enterring the admin details. I even opened the thing and cleaned the fan assembly. What could the problem be? Could it be a virus on D drive? Please help!!!

You are having a problem with intermittent component failure. The problem might be a bad capacitor. you need to check the capacitors in the power supply and around the voltage regulators. You should also reapply the thermal paste to the cpu. You should also check the cpu socket for dust and dirt. Take the cpu out of the socket and make sure it has not become contaminated with dust or themal paste. When you use a notebook for hours at a time all the components will need to check and serviced, every few months. This will keep the notebook is good working order. Remember you are stress testing the components when using it for hours at a time. This is because the notebook due to size and build will have a lot more trouble than a desktop, with heat issues and dirt and dust.Keeping the notebook cool and clean wiil assure you of good perfprmance. If this type of servicing seems over your head you can call Lenovo at this telephone number.

Run a Malwarebytes to check on any spyware, adware and run your antivirus program. It can also be a battery issue. You can try to change the battery it looks like a bigger watch battery replacement. But is sounds lioek a pesky virus. You might try to format and refresh the system. make sure you make back up of the stuff you need.

Autoimatic switches off!!!

It turns off when your on battery power or wall power? Either its overheating (dont set on bed or lap, it needs to be able to intake cool air and exhaust hot air) or your on battery power and its time for a new battery. *Could also be numerous other things but your generalized question can only get a generalized answer*
