Palm M515 and compatibility with Vista Home Premium

I have gone to the Palm website to try to find out whether my 3 year old Palm M515 can be compatible with Vista. Have downloaded the recommended software 4.1.1 which loads fine but cannot get the Sync to work so that I can update my Palm with my latest contact and calendar lists. I'm using Outlook 2003 and can export files as CSV or .pst files but Palm will only accept different imported files.
Palm's technical support is non existent unless you have a bog standard question.
Any ideas that a rookie can understand

I just purchased a new HP desktop computer and it came with Vista Home Premium. I too tried to install the original software that came with the Palm m515 CD. It installed fine, but it will not sync!

Palm tech support was completely irritating, it would have been better had they not answered the phone! All they wanted is more of my money. They were of no help, what-so-ever!

I will try to un-install the CD software and re-install the same software from the Palm website and I hope that it will solve my problems, just as it did for the other guy on this site.

I purchased a HP dv6748 that came equipped with Windows Vista. I have a Canon Multifunction printer/copier, and with the help of HP and Canon tech assistants, I was able to get the printer/copier to communicate with my laptop and work.

I am not having the same luck with Palm. They do not provide complimentary telephone support, and I am looking for on-line guidance as to how I can get my Palm m515 to hot sync with my laptop.

I have downloaded Palm Desktop 4.1.4e over my original 4.0.1.0; restarted the computer and did not have any luck. Any advise as to how to get my HP to hot sync with my Palm will be greatly appreciated.

I also have a Palm m515, and need to sync it to my new Vista software. I loaded the Palm software onto the computer but it will not sync. Any solutions out there?

Same situation. I can't understand why Palm does not support its products at the market. Vista is already at the market since more than one year. If I don´t get a solution, my next Handheld will be from another vendor.

NEED Palm to give us software for their m515, so we can use it with Windows Vista! It shouldn't be that difficult, and you should support your product! All of your product! Not just the stuff that was sold 90 days ago. Not fair to the people you suckered into buying your product. Get off your ****'s and work on Vista software!!!!!

Palm 515 and Vista. I like my 515 and don't want to change it but, it syncs OK with Desktop on Vista but I cannot edit the address book or put in new entries (via the PC) as it crashes Desktop every time.
Have deleted and re-installed Desktop to no avail so, I don't think the next PDA will be a Palm because, as has been said above, they don't support their products for very long in order to make the punters buy a new PDA; not nice.

I was having a similar problem with my M515.  I had originally installed the Palm Desktop from my CD, which was an older version.  When I totally uninstalled the old version and installed the newer version from the Palm website I was able to do a successful sync.  I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate and Palm Desktop version 4.1.4

Uninstall all existing Palm software and install Palm Desttop 6.2 on Windows Vista and the Palm m515 will work.

Uninstall all Palm software - use Control Panel/Programs and Features to uninstall Palm, then delete all Palm folders from C:\Program Files. Install Palm Desktop 4.1.4 update from the Palm website. Then use your m515 Installation CD to install Pocket Mirror ([CD drive letter]:\Palm Desktop Software CD ver 4-0-1\Palm Desktop\Pocket Mirror\setup). This will update your Palm Desktop to work with Vista, and install a Pocket Mirror that you don't have to pay for (you already paid for this one when you bought your m515) to establish your Outlook conduits.

Look around the Palm website.

Why, you could even search that website's Support|Knowledge Base for Vista.

How do I dispose of a Palm m515?

its likely the battery has just gone bad .. a new battery is not expensive but you need a small torx tool to get it open .. the m515 is still a nice machine for some, so donating it to Goodwill or other charity will do a lot of good for several people .. you can just drop it off at most places.. put everything in a box so it doesnt get seperated ..

That is a problem I have run into myself. If there are no drivers available from the Printer manufacturer then you are stuck. Try looking at your printer manufacturer website for updated software, not drivers. Sometimes the solution is is in the Factory software.

Hot sync with vista

I have Vista Home Premium and I hotsync my peg-n760c using Palm Desktop. It came with version 4.1, but it was a disaster. The Cd is old and isn't compatible with Vista. So I downloaded an upgrade from Palm.com and I definitely don't use the Jukebox software that came with it either. Go to Palm.com and download PalmDesktop Win62.exe and install it. It should recognize your USB connection and hotsync immediately. Also, use Windows Media Player and change the files to mp3 by using a free program called Switch. Just google Switch and download the basic program. Then load the mp3 files onto your memory stick in Windows Explorer. Then use MSimport to load the memory stick files into your handheld. Good luck!

Palm M515 hot sync problem

I have a similar problem with my m515. I have 3 palms and 2 sync fine but the 3rd isn't even getting to the computer. There is no recognition from the computer that the palm is trying to sync even though I use the same cradle for all palms. The ensuing message is, "the connection between your handeld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again". My settings are set Local and Cradle/Cable.

Installing this PDA on Windows Vista Home Premium laptop

you shouldnt need a device driver for your pda to work along side with Vista, as Vista has it's own Windows mobile device centre which should run as soon as you connect your pda to a usb port. If it doesnt run, then open up windows mobile device centre in programmes and check the mobile device settings as to whether usb is set to connect to the centre.
