Know the solution -- bad news

Exact same problem. Repair shop says bad panel. They had tried replacing BM board, but didn't solve. Panel replacement would cost more than I paid for the TV when new, so I am junking it.

I have a sony 32m3000 color is dark and red also

@circuitworld: You claim in your profile that you repair plasma and LCD TV's, but you just told someone with an LCD to replace the convergence IC's and linear buffers. First off, convergence IC's are in rear projection TV's not LCD's, and the buffer boards are in plasma's, again, not in LCD's

@gardenwc: Typically what you are experiencing is a bad video controller or an actual faulty panel, the latter of which is not cost effective to replace.

Kdl 32m3000 we have changed 3 boards on this

That's correct it is the LCD panel. This is actually a common problem with this model, and its surprising that it really does look like a video board (BM board) problem. It is actually a problem with the panel itself.
Here is the fix:

This guy was kind enough to post it. I recently did the repair on a KDL-32M3000 and it worked like a charm. Took surprising long, but worked like a charm. I didn't have a 10 Ohm resistor laying around, so I used 2 x 4.7 Ohm resistors in series.

Solution #2 posted on Apr 29, 2009 I have this exact same problem with one of my E152 Dell Displays. I have read around and this whole line of displays seemed to have trouble. I found many issues like this and no solutions.
So, I like to tinker and tinker i did. I opened the case, removed the screen and went straight to the power supply board where I found two burned out capacitors.
RATED:
Value Voltage Diameter Height
1000uF 16v 10mm 16mm

Found a great source for replacement parts and instruction to replace the caps at BadCaps.net
Let you know how it goes.

Comment posted on May 07, 2009 GOOD NEWS ! This problem is solved.
For about 25 cents in parts and an hour and half of dissaembly/reassembly time I am about to put my failed E152 Dell Display back in service on the shop floor.
I bought about 20 caps from Newark Electronics. I still have 8 other E152's out on the shop floor and judging from all the hits on the web with this monitor and this exact same problem I fully expect some of them to fail.
Contact me if you want me to step you through the repair process.

Inch wide vertical white band on my Imac screen?

I have some good news and some bad news for you. First the bad news. the LCD panel in your unit is damaged beyond what 95% of people could fix at home. what has basically happened is the very very thin signalling cables that run around the edge of the screen is damaged. your only option is to replace the panel, which can be a major hassle unless you are very comfortable with a screwdriver and have at least disassembled laptops and know what the parts are.
Bad news as well, part is about $150.

good news. most shops can do this repair for you, esp. if they deal with laptops.

I can give you the replacement info if you wish to attempt it yourself, but as i said, it can be a hard repair to do.
