    Hi Greg,
Thanks for the answer. I can probably run down the timer. My question is: how difficult is it to change out the timer? About how long does it take.
    Thanks very much,
    Steve

    Hello LocalWonder,

I have checked drains, etc. and they are OK. Do you know how difficult it is to replace the timer. Is this something I could do myself. I am fairly handy and have done a little appliance work.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Thanks so much Blueextc3221! I really appreciate your time and help. The only number I could find on the unit that resembled the 110 number was a "Type: 111" on a tag inside the washer lid. Does this change the whole thing?
    Thanks again,
    Steve Young

You can have it done in an hour if you have never worked on a washer!!
2 screws (rear) hold on the control housing,
Pry off the dial indicator... and 2 more scerws hold on the timer to the housing.

Hi. this may be a drainage issue here. I recommend checking the following before you replace the timer.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

OK, if all the above checks out OK, replace the timer.

Seems this is a common problem with Kenmore/Whirlpool later model washers (Whirlpool manufactures Kenmore Elite) . The most common culprit in washers not spinning out is a faulty timer. It seems that the timer will properly advance through the wash and rinse cycles but is quitting when it gets to the spin cycle.

Other customers have had motors, clutches, wiring replaced, only to find out it was the timer all along. I tried to look up the exact part number but the model number you supplied isn't listed. I hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

My Kenmore Elite total care system gets stuck on the Pause Cool Down step and then again on the spin setting. It doesn't even drain after rinsing.

The washer has a temp sensor for the rinse cycle , so just set the temp to warm water and it will stop getting stuck, because it wants the water to be warm when it rinsing ,ok hope that helps you! Ericc
