Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Will not scan kodak easyshare 5100

It will copy/print but if i put in a pic and hit scan then start. the on/off light flashes then it quits 1 min ltr with no pic scaned Similar scan problem as 5100 and 5300 models. Error Code 1 -2036 Scan could not be completed. This occured after I had been scanning, & then Vista crashed (BS of D) & when it restarted nothing but errors. Shut down unit restarted, no change, rebooted no change, I had this same problem with KODAK ESP 7. Wrote to support and received these instructions, which I followed and it's working again (for now?). In order to resolve this issue we have to perform few troubleshooting steps. Please follow the steps mentioned below. Open www.Kodak.com/go/clear Select KODAK All-in-One Printer Software from the drop-down list, then click Continue. Follow the on-screen instructions. Delete the folders: C:\windows\system32\kodak and C:\windows\system32\twain_32\kodak. Open www.kodak.com/go/software . Select your printer model and the operating system. Download the latest version of Home center software.

Lines through pictures and only color blue showing

This is an issue with the printhead of the printer. Please follow the below mentioned steps:
  1. Reseat the ink cartridges and the printhead of the printer. If you need help in doing so please go to the link http://faqs.kodak.com/atg/faq/attachments/AUR1780-2.pdf
  2. After you are through with reseating the ink and the printhead, the printer would ask you to go through a calibration and the light on the printer would begin to flash.
  3. To calibrate the printer, put paper in the paper tray and press Start button on the printer. After you have printed the calibration, you will have to scan it so place it on the scanner glass and hit the start button.
  4. After calibrating the printer, try a deep clean by pressing the Cancel and Copy buttons at the same time for two seconds. Wait for a minute and the cleaning process would complete.
  5. Try printing a Demo sheet by pressing Copy and Cancel button.

If you still have lines on the prints, you can get a free printhead replacement from Kodak.

While trying to copy a letter on a kodak 5100 easyshare the page prints out with a yellow strip about 2 inches wide down the entire right side length of the page . Why is it doing this?

Try this one, Turn on the printer, Take out the inks, remove the printhead, put back the printhead make sure it will snap and you hear a click, put the inks back, wait for the printer to initialize, Press the Menu button, look for Calibrate printer, then print calibration page, then scan it after. Load a regular paper. Then try to print a demo page by pressing Photo and Copy at the same for 5 seconds then let it go. If same problem persist call this no for further assistance 1800 421 6699

Printing too light

Kodak EasyShare 5100 series
Clean the print head then print a demo sheet.
  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Print head Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.
If the Demo print is bad- IE: no black, blurry print etc., then you may need to replace the print head:

Problem with scanner

Hi,
Try to get the scanner operating by using a programme such as paint (open file from scanner or camera) or powerpoint (insert picture from scanner or camera). I have used this with success in the past. I have not used the scan button so I cannot advise you on this.
Hope this at least gets you going with scanning a copy of something and once you have it in these programmes you can at least print it and make some changes that you desire.
Hope this helps.
Youre right - they are a great printer!!
