Question about Umax AstraPix PC100 Webcam
I have a hp pavillion dv4 laptop - previously the webcam was working ok with ym bu, t usually lasted about 30 seconds to a minute before freezing the image - that was ok, but now it says "no available captured device" which is BS since i know the webcam is there! I checked windows and it says the webcam is working properly - if i restart my computer 3 or 4 times sometimes it works ok, but there doesnt seem to be any consistent reaon for it - can anyone help?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Sign up for the drivers on their page here:
Then just download and install the software for your camera.
That's the best place to start.
Let me know if you need any more help.
Best of luck!

SOURCE: MSI PR200 - Webcam problem
The first thing to do is test the webcam using the software from another site.
Go to this site and click "allow" in the top window.
Assess your webcam in left hand panel.
If the picture is reasonable, you can assume you have a software problem.
I would uninstall the software and reboot the computer allowing Vista to find new hardware and download the software for it.

It sounds like you may have some sort of conflict in software. What you are going to need to do is restore your computer to an earlier time. This will not effect any of your files or hardware. To do this you will need to go to start and click on all programs, then go to accessories, system tools and click on system resotre. It will go through a short process and bring up different restore points, assuming that you have them set. If you do not, I will explain how to get around this. Once you have chosen a restore point, a time that you are sure that your camera was working properly, click on that date and click restore. It will then go through the process of setting your computer back to that specific date and once it's done, it may ask you to restart the computer, go ahead and do so. Once you are back into Windows, attempt to run your web cam again and you should be good to go.
If you do not have the option to restore to an earlier time, you will need to attempt to download the drivers and can access those from the following link http://www.soft32download.com/software/UMAX-AstraPix-PC210-Digital-Camera-Windows-98SE-ME-2000-XP-driver-download-details.html
hope this helps! let me know if you need further assistance
