Problem is most likely caused by uncompatible sd card size.

The memory card most likely need to be formatted, There should be a option for that in the camera somewhere, in the setup most likely. It should be "format" use it to format the card, if that doesn't help, do you have a card reader?

we could plug the card to the computer and format it there.
to format the card on your computer plug it in, if it has a problem the format message should come right up, but if it doesn't open my computer from either desktop or from start -> my computer.

find the memory card from the list, you could disconnect the reader, press f5 on the my computer window, plug it back in and press f5 again to see what disppeared and reappeared, thats most likely it, or one of them is the right one, ones you have found the right one or a suspect(should read Removeable storage device) right click on it and select format,

click on device defaults we can try the format atleast 2 times, both times with diffrent setting. Try FAT setting click on format and let it run, ones its done, disconnect the card and plug it to your camera and see if it works, if not, plug it back into the computer and this time try FAT32 setting instead of FAT. Ones its done connect it back to the camera and see if it works.

By the way do you have other cards that work perfectly with the camera?

Let me know how that goes,
Thanks,
Ekse

I am getting memory card error with canon powershot a410

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card and won't work in devices not designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I just got my Panasonic HDC-SD80 in the post. I am charging it but tried to turn it on just for a quick look. The camera turned on and I could scroll through the menus on the touch screen and stuff but...

sometimes this happens if there is a fault with the memory card. switch the camera off, take the battery and memory card out, leave it for 2 mins, put the battery in (DO NOT PUT THE MEMORY CARD BACK IN) wait for the message on screen saying no memory card detected. switch off camera, put memory card in, switch on the camera, this normally cures the blank lcd screen issue

I can not get our memory card to format. it says card error. we are using a microSDHC Ccard with adapter 4gb

Is the camera compatible with SDHC? If it can only handle SD memory cards this card is not readable in the device. It will show on the camera whether it is compatible with SDHC. If it doesn't have the logo, take it as the card won't work and you'll need to get a normal SD card.

There is a theoretical maximum of 2GB for SD memory cards, SDHC start at 4GB and go up to 32GB.

Simply put, if your camera is quite old, it won't support SDHC and therefore is limited to a maximum of 2GB memory card.

Why does it say memory card error on the screen

Hi there, For few reason camera showing memory card error.
1. Memory card damaged.
2. your memory card finished is life time storage memory.
3 . virus infected.
4. If your memory card storage capacity more than camera support card then its also show to you. For example your camera support maximum 2 GB card, but your try to use more than 2 GB memory card.
I suggest your remove the memory card and scan by updated antivirus. After that, if not working then fomat it and try.
Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

My sony dsc-w100 digital camera says format error and hangs on. what shall i do??

Take out memory card from camera, turn it On and check does it show format error?
If yes, press Home, Memory option and format internal memory.
If camera does not show format error then put back memory card in and press Home, Memory card option and format it.
This will delete all files/ data and will refresh memory card, take some pictures and check.
If after formatting, still format error exist, put new memory card.

Memory Card Error

Do not ever format a card.,any card via a computer That does it in. For camera use it will not be recognised. Put the card in the card reader and if there is anything at all on it delete it. Try to reformat in the camera again- failing that -new card.
