Lycoming service bulletins

Hi. Lycoming Mandatory Service Bulletin 359 relates only to Lycoming O-235 F and O-235 G engines. These engines have a different power rating than the more common O-235 L engines.

The service Bulletin requires the owner/operator to replace the normal Champion REM38E Spark plugs because they are too HOT for the engine and may cause detonation (pre-ignition) which will seriously damage the engine. The Bulletin recommends replacement of the REM38E plugs with AC-86 Spark Plugs which must be gapped between .018 inches and .022 inches.

Hope this answers your question: Rgs. Bob

I replaced EGR valve twice one infact today with dealer part but still the check engine light came on after driving my 2000 Honda odyssey van for 25 miles? any suggestions?

I had an egr code. there is a honda service bulletin out about clogged egr ports. The service bulletin involves putting some kind of sleeve in the port. I just followed the service bulletin to clean out the port, I didn't put in the sleeve or any parts. Seems to be working good for the last six months. It took a couple of hours and some gaskets for the intake manifold.

What is the step by step process for shiming the valve liftersi have a 94 Magna with a lite lifter noise.

I had the same noise you are describing and recently found the solution. Honda has issued a Service Bulletin on the 1994 VF750C Magna regarding a knocking noise from the cylinder head areas. The noise varies as you tip the bike from side to side. It is likely caused by sideways thrust movement of the camshafts which then knock against their holders. The solution is to drill a small hole of precise diameter, length, and location, in each of the cam holders. This allows oil to seep into the space between the end of the camshaft and its holder to cushion the sideways thrust motion.

In the USA, this service bulletin is "VF750C #1". In Canada, this bulletin is "II-1-94", dated September 21, 1994. Your Honda dealer should have a copy of this bulletin.

Click here for an article that explains it in more detail and click here for an image that shows the hole location and depth. I performed this service myself and it fixed the problem! I hope this helps you.

M rear heat in my03 envoy blows cold air

There is a service bulletin for poor rear heat on these models. The bulletin number is 05-01-37-002A.The part numbers are 89024885 for 4.2 engine and 89024886 for the v8 engine. It is an auxiliary pump the helps the coolant flow to the rear. The a/c system has to be recovered so I don`t think you can do this at home unless you have an a/c recovery machine.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I would suspect a faulty Zener or Diode, transistor, allowing dirty DC or AC ripple, to the Caps.. use a scope and have a look. One must always find the cause of why things fail simply fixing the symptoms simply means it will fault again.
