Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer

Maytag dryer won't rotate after blower wheel replacement

My Maytag dryer was making a noise on start up and slow down, and I determined it was the blower wheel.  I replaced the blower wheel and reassembled the dryer, but now when I turn the dryer on, it won't tumble or rotate.  It turns on and heats up but that is all.  Please help!!! after I replaced the blower wheel on my maytag, the dryer now has difficulty tumbling with a load in. Without a load it appears to tumble fine. Any suggestions?

Thank you. I assume the best way to get at the belt and tensioner is through the rear of the machine? Thanks again!

Check the drive belt and belt tensioner. From the way you describe it, the belt is loose and with a load in the drum, it will not rotate due to belt slipping.

SOURCE: Maytag dryer won't rotate after blower wheel replacement

The dryer belt may have broken or come off its pulleys. Pop open top of dryer or rear vent door to look inside to see if this is your problem. Let me know if I can help, Thanks Sea Breeze

DRYER MAKES NOISES.

A loose or worn BELT can make funny noises

Or the idler pulley that puts tension on the dryer drum drive belt could be worn out. If the pulley is bad we recommend also replacing the belt.

The glides on drum worn and making metal to metal contact.

The drum slides or glides support the front of the drum. As the drum rotates over the years, the glides wear out and then the dryer makes noise. Replace all of the glides as a set if they are worn out.

CHECK FOR LOOSE BELLOES inside the drum

Sometimes an item can get stuck inbetween the drum and the housing and scrape and grind making funny noises, things like coins, bra wire, nails, hair pins, etc sometimes u can just remove the cabinet and observe by turning the drum by hand or looking for scratch or scrape marks on housing.

The blower:

Clumps of lint, socks, and other small articles of clothing can get past the lint filter and into the blower wheel. If the dryer makes noise, and the noise seems to be at a very fast pace, there might be something caught in the blower wheel. In addition, the blower wheel sleeve might be worn out, allowing the blower wheel to wobble on the motor shaft. If this happens, replace the blower wheel.

The bearings:

The drum bearing supports the rear of the dryer drum. If the dryer makes noise this bearing might be worn out. Replace the bearing if it is worn out. Do not lubricate the bearing, the lubrication will attract lint and dirt and accelerate the wearing process.

The bearings TEST by moving drum by hand u may be able to feel loose or rough movement. And listen to sounds when turning it.

The drum rollers or castors:

It is very common for dryer drum rollers to wear out. If the dryer makes noise, particularly a loud rumbling noise, one or more of the rollers may be worn out. After removing the drum from the dryer, inspect the rollers.

Check for cracks, dryness, or damage and not engaging drum properly. Sometimes u can use high density LITHIUM BASE gear grease to re oil/grease them.

My maytag neptune dryer mdg5500aww is making a screeching sound. It is drying the clothes but it is getting louder by the day. What part needs to be replaced?

There are 2 wheels in the rear that the drum rotates on - one could be binding. The tensioner has a wheel, check it for rotation. Belt slipping? Check motor for operation - check that plastic blower isn't rubbing in its box. Dryers are easy to disassemble - check YouTube for procedure.

Maytag Model SDG3606AWW slow to start, shrieks when running

T"he sound you are hearing is coming from the blower wheel. This is located in the front of the machine and can be accessed by removing the front of the machine, Getting the front off varies machine to machine, Once the front is off, you'll see the blower wheel in the front, and once again some models you may have to remove exhaust vent, in others just the cover of the blower wheel. This is an easy repair, no doubt. The part number is 56000

I have a maytag ldg8200aaw gas dryer. it works and will dry clothes well but makes an extremely loud grinding noise as the drum turns...sometimes it even seems as if it is not engaging...I am trying to...

Your dryer is definitely worth fixing. The blower wheel is plastic 53-0106, These will wear out and get loose. Make noise and the clothes take a long time to dry. Repair Photosa9a0520.jpg

Dryer starts slow with rrrrrrrrrr noise and timer does not move

This could be a simple repair. The blower wheel in the exhaust housing maybe free spinning on the shaft. If it is replace the blower wheel. If not the motor has gone bad.
