My TV's buttons won't work. The only ones that do are the main power button and the power button on the remote. I tried to play a DVD on the built in player but now it wont eject. Sometimes if i turn it on the display is very very dim . I unplugged the the tv from the power socket and some the power indicator light still stayed on. This all happened so suddenly one time it worked the next time it didn't
I purchased my Mintek from Costco and had the same problem. They are aware of the problems with Mintek and lack of support. If your set is from Costco or other stores try them for a solution or refund. It worked for me. I got a full refund. Most retailers have a copy of the reciept if not try anyway.

If hooked up right the play button should work, if on wrong channel and no switch on rear to select 3 or 4 it might be the remote.
The remote can itself be tested--all shops have a tester--point remote at it and press any button and tester will react or not.
Many digital cameras can also be used in the same way in a VERY dark room. Point remote at the powered up camera and look for a tiny flash on the camera display itself when pointed at the camera and buttons pressed.
some machines require a remote to active them. stupid idea but in some sence a good idea if for example the unit got stollen. try an all-in-one remote for it or go onto ebay and see if you can buy one. if the same problem still occurs, then it could be a faulty unit.
Make sure the batteries in the remote are working (they go in the back of the remote at the bottom).
Turn on the DVD player with the power button on the DP300 itself (lower left). Open the dvd tray either with the remote (press open/close button, upper right) or with the button on the DP300. Put a DVD in the tray and close it with the remote or the button on the DP300. The DVD should load.
Use the arrow buttons in the centre of the remote to select choices from the onscreen menu of the DVD. Press Play (centre of the 4 arrow buttons) to activate the choice you want. For example, if you want to play a movie, use the arrow buttons to go up or down until "play movie" is selected, then hit PLAY, and movie will play. If you want to choose a scene/chapter of the movie, use arrow buttons to go up or down until Scene Selection or Chapter is selected (highlighted), and press PLAY. This should bring up a list of the scenes or chapters. Use the arrow buttons to select the one you want, then hit PLAY, and that scene should play.
If the DVD tray is taking less than 20 seconds to operate, there is likely no problem. If it is taking more, there may be. I think the mechanism that opens and closes the tray is often the first thing to stop working on DVD and CD players.
On fornt of the player you have the buttons for opreation. You can use these buttons to operate your DVD player with out remote.

Try pressing HDMI button on the remote and turn off easy link in the menu. failing that it is possible the remote may have faulty buttons. Its always worth cleaning the remote with a clean brush with alcohol spray/gel.
I assume you have fixed this by now, but if not, call panasonic's help line (number is in your owner's manual). They will walk you through the complete reset process (maybe 5 minutes). you will have to re-program everything the same as you did when it first came out of the box, but that doesn't take too long. Also, first try taking the batteries out of the remote. Make sure they are still good. Wait 60 seconds or longer, then replace batteries.
it sounds like your remote has got damp or over time the dust builds up behind the buttons you should be able to take the controll apert and remove the buttons check the pads are clean and not greasy then wipe over the board with some clean cotton cloth where the buttons pads press on to activate usually its just a bit of grease but check their is no button jammed it sounds like this could be the case as you get a different response to pressing the play button so try this first then if dont work still clean the buttons and pads be carefull not to dammage the pads they should come out all together and have little black pads stuck to them make sure their xlean and grease free if this still dont work then you can get but make sure its not one of the cheaper ones a all in one remote this should solve your problem hope this helps
