Question about Cub Cadet Street Sign- tractor lawn riding mower parts

Blades engage, but stop after running for a bit.

June 2, 2009, replaced switch for engaging blades- but is not problem after all. The blades initially engage, runs well for a few minutes and then they cut off- turn it back on- it cuts off and again and again. It is a 1500 series (1515)- about nine years old but has been kept up pretty well. This is a new problem. Have recently replaced ball joint for left front wheel assembly and all was working well. Grass has been tall due to much rain and a wee bit damp when mowing but have kept the blade carriage clean.

Check the wires to the seat safety switch also, if you start the blades stay in the seat and wiggle all the wires from the switch, to the safety switch, and to the clutch, if one of the wires is bad or just a bad connection it should stop the blades every time you move it. hope this helps

Have a craftsman EZ3 917.272121 mower engine e stalls when blade switch is pulled

If you are sitting on the tractor seat and the engine stalls when engaging the PTO mover blades I would check the switch under the seat.

This seat has a saftey switch to assure that the operator is in a safe location before engaging the the blades. Also if the blades are engaged and the operator leaves the seat the blades will stop. If a young rider with insufficient weight the blades will not engage.

Why does my riding mower die when put in gear or engage the blades

Check out the grass box safety switch. if not fully depressed it will apply brakes to the blades when in gear. Most mowers are designed with a safety switch to stop the blades, or forward motion if the grass box is not fitted correctly.

What causes fuse to blow every time I try to engage blades?

To engage the blades is it a knob to an electric switch that you pull?
If so does the wire from the switch activate a electric clutch?
Is the wire damaged and shorted to the frame, is the clutch shorted. If you provide the brand name and model number I might be able to find a schematic for your mower.

Video shows an electric clutch but yours may be different but this should give you an idea of where to look. Riding Mower Electric PTO Clutch Won Engage When Hot Problem Fix

Safety switch located

Micro switches will just stop the engine if the blades are engaged and the operator leaves the seat, or will stop the engine cranking if the blades are engaged, it will not stop the blades from engaging.

Lots of smoke when I engaged stuck blades - now runs roughly

Most likely what you did was burn one or more spots on the belt. When the blades and belt stop turning, like in tall grass, the engine doesn't stop and will burn flat spots on the belt at the engine pulley. Every time the flat spot hits a pulley, it will jump and can set up a bad vibration. Run your hand around the sides of the belt or take it off and you will feel or see the thin spot(s) on it. Replace belt.

Motor stops when the pto or cutting blades are turned on or engaged.

you most likely have a bad safety switch. there is one under your seat, one on engagement lever for blades, and probably one or two more in other places.start with the one under your seat by unplugging it and then going ahead with normale start up and implement engagement. you will have found the bad switch when everything works as it should.replace switch if you feel its necessary or just leave unplugged. it will not affect performance or longevity of the tractor
