  • Unplug the power cord of the refrigerator
  • Locate the fan plug (usually next to the water valve), unplug it
  • Try to spin the fan blade by your finger, if it has too much friction, lube it with small motor oil (sewing machine oil etc)
  • Clean up all accumulated dust.
  • Plug it back, it should work (fan motor is thermally protected so it won't burn out)

you need to get that compressor fan working. test for voltage at the fan, or just replace. use the model number printed on the fan for replacement, or any 120v fan should work (double check fan voltage rating before ordering). after that, just make sure to keep the coils clean and free of dirt (underneath or on back with tin fins on them). air must be able to flow across these.

GE TBX25ZLB Refrigerator Compressor won't Engage

Part number for compressor relay is WR7X222. However, you have a very old rotary compressor there and most likely it went bad. I would just buy a new fridge. Don't waste your time/money. The fridge is too old.

Freezer is not working; light (power is on and I think the fridge side is working

You probably have a bad fan motor in the freezer. When you hear the compressor running, open the freezer and listen for the fan. It is located in the back of the freezer. To access the fan, remove everything from the freezer. Locate the screws holding the back panel in place and remove them. With a voltmeter, check for voltage on the terminals of the fan while the compressor is running. If you have voltage and the fan is not running, replace the fan. You can buy replacement fans on-line, at your local appliance parts store, even ebay. Get the model number of your refrigerator, and you can easily locate the part you need.

GSS201EPH WW Refrigerator does not run.

These symptoms indicate that the main control board is bad . The compressor relay ( one of the black boxes ) is bad . Have to replace the complete board . Without the model number , can't give you the part number . Take the model number with you when you go to get the part ( or order the part ).

sounds like either your fan is bad or a wire may have burned off of it. Follow the wires forthe fan back to where they make the junction with the compressor wires. when ever the compressor runs your right that the fan needs to run. If you have a meter you could ohm out the fan and see if the motor windings are indeed bad. a reading of infinite would tell the tale.go out and spend 15 or 25 o us and get a new condenser fan motor after you remove your old one and make sure that the one that oyu get is the same. and replace it. Thanks for using FixYa and don't forget to rate this answer please. Happy New Year!!!!!!

Neither Refrig. nor Freezer will cool

I'm surprised at the number of messages regarding this particular model.
What you describe sounds very much like a compressor failure.

Is anything else running in it? A circulating fan for example?
And, we lost a compressor years ago because of a low line-voltage condition that happened while we were gone and lasted over three hours.
A monitor I had running showed around 25VAC during that period. It was enough to heat the compressor to self-destruct but not enough to start up or cause a fire.

If you have suffered such a condition recently, I would be on the phone with your utility company.
