Advanced power options settings UPS for blackout buster?software

I did a windows reinstall, and whatever advanced power options UPS settings for my ancient PK Electronics blackout buster B6u were wiped out. A) the manual and software can't be found on the web since the company has changed hands, and I'm not sure of current, accurate URL... and b) I don't know how to set the advanced settings that are now set as ''none'' for manufactuter and it says the ''UPS service is none''
The click down menu for manufactuer is none, American Power Conversion or generic, but when the setting are changed, I don't know what will happen....INfo on product:
Blackout Buster B6U ''Good Things Come In Small Packages'' Click on a thumbnail to enlarge it. Use your browser's ''BACK'' button to return to this review when done. Type of Product The Blackout Buster from PK Electronics is an (UPS) uninterruptible power supply and a surge protector. Features

  • Emergency Backup Battery. Rechargeable battery will give you time to save valuable files during power blackouts.
  • Power Surge Guard. Protects against lightning strikes and other power surges.
  • Voltage Regulation. Protects against damage caused by voltage variations.
  • Internet Line Protection. Protects against power spikes traveling through Internet or network lines.
Installation Extremely easy and fast. It took less than 5 minutes. All the information you need is right on the box. There are two small pamphlets, an Installation Guide, with visual step-by-step instructions, and a User's Guide, if you need more information. A novice or beginner PC user would have no problem. Design, Outlets, & Ports This unit is compact, about 8 inches high, 4 inches wide and weighs about 8 pounds, which makes it perfect for a small office and/or workspace. It has an attractive look, with a dark grey, matte finish and rubberized feet. The large on/off switch is conveniently placed on the top of the front of the unit. There are four status lights which indicate that the unit is: (1) providing power; (2) receiving power and charging its internal battery; (3) regulating its output; and (4) using the internal battery. The backup or internal battery light will only come on in the event of a power failure.

The back of the unit has 6 power outlets. All six provide surge suppression, while four of the outlets also provide battery backup. High drain devices, such as printers, should be plugged into the two outlets without battery backup. Thus they will not drain the backup power reserve too quickly. The monitor and the computer should be plugged into the battery backup outlets. There is a battery backup outlet a couple of inches above the others to provide room to plug in a transformer that is often used by modems and external hard drives.

There are two ports for protecting either a modem or network line from surges and spikes. Either a telephone (RJ-11) or a network 10 Base-T (RJ-45) jack can be used. A third port, the data port, when connected with the supplied serial cable and software allows for UPS monitoring and control of Win 3.1x, Win95, Win NT, OS/2 and Novell NetWare operating systems in the event of a prolonged power outage. The free software and manual can be downloaded from PK Electronics' Web site or ordered with the coupon that comes with the unit.

I have to answer this question with just plain old common sense. Get a new one! This is crazy. If you get a new one, you will have a better, more upto date and something you can handle with todays OS and obviously new batteries. That is too old to mess with. I fixed a powerware once and the plastic was falling apart and the PC board was held together with a rubber band. Not worth it.

SOURCE: how to replace the battery in my Black Out Buster B6U

This is for the Blackout Buster by PK or PowerKinetics B6U model (as shown on the bottom of the unit). I have no manual, but I have always gotten the correct battery from:
http://www.battery-consulting.com/UPS_Batteries/PK_Electronics_UPS_Replacement_Batteries/Blackout-buster-B6U.htm

You might want to visually look at your battery terminals to be sure and select the correct terminal config. Or, at least give them the s/n and model number on the bottom. IME, this is the BEST UPS I have ever had. My Father and I have each had one for almost 10 years. Now, if someone could point me to a place that sells the communication cable for it, I'd appreciate it.

Eaton EX RT 11, Windows 2008 server, in a VMware senario. PSP can't connect tu the UPS. Thanks in advance, Matias.

Matias,
Try using the Intelligent Power Software Suite (IPSS):
http://powerquality.eaton.com/Products-services/Power-Management/Software.asp
If you are trying to monitor the UPS, use Intelligent Power Manager (IPM). If you are trying to shutdown the Virtual Machine safely, use Intelligent Power Protector (IPP).

What software do I need to connect to my MGE UPS Pulsar EXtreme 1500C?

The Personal Power Pack (UPS_psp_2_60_02.exe)is the best for MGE UPS,but it has been discontinued for a long time and it runs only on XP and older windows os.
For adjusting the advanced parameters of the UPS,u can use the upsdrv15.exe. This software works only with serial connection.
The only solution for Windows 7 is Eaton's Lan Safe software (since Eaton bought a part of MGE,the UPS is recognised by their software).
These software are not very easy to find, but they're there.

Advanced options Internet Explorer provides advanced configuration options through Pop-up Blocker Settings. To access these settings, open Internet Options, click Privacy and then in the Pop-up Blocker area click Settings to open Pop-up Blocker Settings. You can configure the following options:
  • Address of Web site to allow. Enter a URL and click Add to add sites to the Allowed sites list. Any site on the list can open pop-up windows.

  • Filter Level. There are three different filter levels that you can use with Pop-up Blocker:

    • High: Block All Pop-ups. The default behavior of Pop-up Blocker allows sites to open a pop-up window when the user clicks a link. This setting changes that behavior by blocking windows that are opened from a link. If this setting is enabled, you can allow pop-up windows to open by pressing the CTRL key at the same time that you click the link to launch the pop-up.

    • Medium: Block most automatic pop-ups. This is the default Pop-up Blocker setting. This setting blocks most pop-ups that launch automatically when a Web site is loaded into your browser, but doesn't block pop-ups that are opened when you click a link.

    • Low: Allow pop-ups from secure sites. This setting allows secure Web sites (those that use the https:// protocol) to automatically launch pop-up windows without requiring that you add them to the Allowed sites list.

Dear Sir i will like to ask you if it is possible to change or reset the actually password-protector that have an UPS APC Silcon SL60KF with a master password or reset and for this the ups recover the...

I have had the problem of APC's PowerChute software forgetting my password. No joke. I write these things down when I set them.

Two options:
Call APC support. They are awesome. Smart, well spoken and free. You will need the model number and serial number from your UPS. (800) 555-2725
Remove and reinstall the APC software. During the reinstallation you should be prompted to set a new password.

Vote for this solution if it helps.

How to replace the battery in my Black Out Buster B6U

Not hard to replace battery. It is a SLA (sealed lead acid) 12 volt 7AmpHour. Runs $20 to $30. To remove just unscrew 4 screws on the back and 4 screws on the side. The front panel snaps out from the bottom use a flat blade to push up the tab from the opening on the face plate. The unit will operate without the battery just no backup.
