Hi This could be one of several problems. The first thing to do is to make sure that the driver for the touchpad has not become corrupted. Sounds complicated I know but its not. Please follow the steps below and let me know if this solves the issue. I'm assuming you are running Windows 7 but it very similar in XP as well.
1. click on start 2. In the search box type device manager then hit return This will open Device Manager 3 click on the little arrow next to Mice and other pointing devices Your touch pad should be listed here. 4. Double click your device its property box will open 5. click on the driver tab at the top 6. click on update driver (you must be connected to the internet) 7. follow the instructions and make the choise to search for the driver automatically. This will download the latest driver for your PC and should fix thye problem. Please let me know the results.
Hi waris, on you touchpad there is a light on the upper left of the touchpad tap it three time it should enable the touchpad for you and the light will be turned OFF meaning that the touchpad is active if the light it lit then it is inactive.
the wire that attaches the panel to the system board has likely pulled loose from the slot. its a very thin flat cable and has no grips on it, it slides into a tiny slot. Its possible that Dell can walk you through fixing it, but if your machine is under warranty, I'd suggest getting a tech to come out and do it for you. it takes about an hour to get it back to par.
Not sure if this will help you, but when you slide the phone open, do you see 4 red lit-up indicators surrounding your center data wheel? On mine there are:
Red line - top left
Red line - top right
SPK - bottom left
CLR - bottom right
(Note that the indicators stay lit for about 20 seconds)
The indicator at the top left is the MUTE On/Off switch (you will see "MUTE" in the main display, just above the top left indicator). Although there is no real 'switch' there, you just push on that red indicator. It should vibrate when you turn MUTE on or off.
If the indicators go dark, the switch stops working. In that case, you have to slide the LOCK switch (this is a real switch, on the right side of the phone...it's the middle thing - above the MUSIC switch and below the micro SD opening). Just slide downwards and let go...the indicators should light back up, and you can use the MUTE switch then.
Hope this helps.
And BTW, the reason I am answering this question is because despite all I've just explained, my Chocolate MUTE swith, and all those indicator switches, have recently become intermittent. Which means when I am on an important call, after I switch to MUTE I find I can't get it out of MUTE. So if you try the above and it doesn't work, maybe your phone has a problem like mine....
As a default setting on the KG800, the phone automatically locks due to its touch screen sensitivity. If it doesn't work with the slide closed, try opening it, going into Settings, then Security, then touchpad lock, and set it on off. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. Sorry. It's a great phone with nice features and all, but I've gotta tell you, I'm getting pretty sick of all its problems.
