i have sony dvd rw aw - g170a but this drive is not working properly when i try play video cd directly into it. It do nothing. I have notice that in device manager there is yellow exclamatory! symbol. i have tried to rollback but it does not do anything.
its simply state message '' your drives are corrupted''
The yellow exclamation point is telling you there is a problem with the device. First thing to do is uninstall the device using your hardware or device manager. Reboot. Your pc should automatically recognize the device on reboot and install the proper drivers. If not then you will have to go to the Sony website and download & install the drivers manually. If this does not fix the problem then your drive has went bad & will need replaced. Good luck & I hope this helps you out.

my CD/DVD reader cannot read CDs anymore. It still reads DVDs fine. Got it to a shop in the past, they said it was a SW problem and I should rebuild the system from OS disk. However, if they were wrong and it is a HW problem, it won't read my OS recovery CD (windows XP) and I'll be stuck. The reader is a Sony CD-RW CRX835E Any suggestion?
