Repairing a crack in a plastic refrigerator liner

I wish someone would post more details about the exact materials and method to do this epoxy repair to a cracked liner. Some part numbers for available kits or even just a tried and true method that isn't too unsightly or smells bad. My experience with most epoxy repairs is an extremely foul odor that doesn't seem to ever go away!

SOURCE: bad odor from plastic tray underneath refer

Depending on the model the tray may or may not be removable.

Try removing the front grille located below the doors close to the floor, typically this will pull off with a little force on ends. The pan if accessible should be on the left or center. If it is not removable you may be able to put some cleaner into the pan from the front.

If it is not accessible from the front you will need to roll the frig out and remove the back panel once you unplug the power cord. The panel on the rear near the bottom may look like a piece of cardboard but is important to put back.

Leaking water randomly on the floor. I have replaced the p tube and it is still leaking. I noticed the evaporation pan is cracked, but I can't find any videos on how to replace.

Hi Sandra:
Without much doubt, a cracked evap tray would be a likely source for the leak.
May I suggest you attempt repair using any of the following depending on the material that the tray is made of:
- PVC plastic cement
- ABS plastic cement
- 2 component epoxy
- JB Weld
Personally, I would use sandpaper to rough up the tray adjacent to the crack, and try the JB Weld.

Wha is the Frigidaire FSC23F7DSB warrenty

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that you want to know the warranty on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FSC23F7DSB. There is a one year warranty, where the manufacturer will pay all costs for repairing or replacing any parts of this appliance which prove to be defective in materials or workmanship. This does exclude original and replacement ice & water filter cartridges (if equipped). Original and replacement cartridges are warranted for 30 days (parts only).

There is a second through fifth year warranty on the cabinet liner and sealed system. This means the manufacturer will repair or replace any parts in the cabinet liner or Sealed Refrigeration System (compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier and tubing) which prove to be defective in materials or workmanship. Check with the manufacturer for any further details. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Could I patch a crack that is in my water outlet housing

Most water outlet housings nowadays are made of a thermoset plastic resin material that can be "etched" with a dremmel tool to make the crack accept some epoxy material such as JB Weld (excellent material when mixed exactly per directions) and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol prior to application. A warm hair dryer follow-up is recommended to "flow" the material into the etched crack. Allow to cure overnight (24 hours is best). A similar procedure can be done with mnetallic castings such as in older 70's and 60's vehicles with similar results. The parent material MUST be thoroughly cleane to do a good job!!

Broken crisper shelf supports

What up G? (jk)

Look, I'm not really sure about this, but it sounds like you may have a warranty issue here. The reason I believe this is because those supports are actually part of the liner (which CAN NOT be removed, btw) and the liner should have a really kickin' warranty behind it. Check your owner/user manual for warranty info and see if I'm correct.

If I'm wrong then it's gonna be a pain to ever keep those supports in place. Whirlpool had a liner problem not long ago and "issued" an authorized repair for it which utilized an epoxy resin and other materials. But if memory serves, that was just for cracks in the liner, not functional parts of the liner breaking away.

Hope this helps,

Whirlpool Refrigerator Internal Liner Cracks

If it is a Kitchenaid brand, the liner is covered under full factory warranty for up to 5 years. (See your warranty guide page). I am the Svc Mgr of an Authorized service center and relayed to one of my customers this morning, that if they took photos after the repair was made and call customer service, they will tell you where to send them. If...and they will agree the repair is un-sightly, you get an exchange. I am not sure it will work with the Whirlpool brand even though they are in the same family ** all made by same company, Kitchenaid cost more and comes with a longer warranty.... hope this helps. There are hair line cracks in the side wall panel of the inside lining of the refrigerator that run parallel to one of the shelves. Any thoughts? Kitchen Aid S/S REFRIG. KSRG25FKSS

im thinking you got a cracked refrigerator liner!! heres the problem with that, its strictly a cosmetic issue, in years past kit aid would consider that a non-field repairable issue and change to refrig out for they've come out with a repair, consisting of an epoxy kit that we go out and epoxy the crack(s) for you, although still noticeable far less than a cracked liner. if necessary and enough cracks in wall they have an epoxy liner kit that will cover entire side wall of the refrig, all depends on the affected area. ive done quite a few epoxy repairs, never a complete panel, but the few epoxy repairs ive done the customer seemed satisfied with the result..again strictly cosemtic issue so ifyou leave it alone oyou will be endangering absolutly nothing exept an unsightly crack.

Frig liner is cracking

I have the same problem on my 3 year old Kenmore Refrigerator. I cleaned out the refrigerator and noticed the cracks. I don't know how long they've been there. I called the service guy out and he said it's a known problem. He said the plastic wasn't poured right into the mold. He told the only solution is a silicon type caulking or a patch. The patch involved cutting pieces of liner from a sheet and basically glueing them over the cracks. BOTH SOLUTIONS are unacceptable. I am beginning the process of complaining (lot of good it will do). If this is a known defect, SEARS should stand by their product and make it good.
