Question about Gateway 505GR PC Desktop

1 Answer

No power desktop will not power on ...there is a green flashing light on the back even when the power cord is disconnected I have the same problem. Shut PC down for the weekend. When trying to reboot, it made a noise like a car trying to start. Forced shut down, then nothing. No front power light, no power light on power supply. Thought "Hey, it's the power supply". Wasn't. Then thought "Must be mother board - wasn't either. Only other thought is CPU. Tried disconnecting all devices. Nothing.

This suggestion is a real long shot but at least it something you can try. It sounds like you've already ruled out all the other stuff I was going to suggest. Try replacing the CMOS battery on the mother board. It's one of those large flat batteries about the size of a nickel.

COMPUTER DOSENT TURN ON JUST GREEN LIGHT FLASHES

Dear Elvira,
You have to disconnet your power supply from the mains by pulling out power cord then the open the side pan of your cabinet and locate the ram.remove the ram and resit it in another slot. then connect your power cord to the power supply of your pc then switch on.
If the problem is not solved then again remove the power cord and remove the cmos battery from the motherboard and wait for 20 seconds, then put it back.and power on the system. if the problem is not solved then try with another powe supply.still problem is there then your motherboard may be bad.you have to replace the motherboard.

Tower won't turn on. There is a green light on the back near the power cord that's flashing green.

Pull the power cord out and allow it to reset. If you still have issues you may need to replace your power supply.

Green light flashing on back of unit near power cord also green light flashing on motherboard near power supply plug in.

I would suggest trying to replace the power supply. If that does not fix the issue, i would need to hear more about the computer.

No power

Disconnect your power. Remove the batter (CMOS), unlplug the power cable harness to motherboard. Plug in your main power cable cord (to power supply) then carefully plug the power cable harness to motherboard while simultaneously holding the power switch on computer down. Be sure sweaty palms are not touching the motherboard. power leads, or any other items as not to short any components.

Happy Computing!
