Pls check the thermostate, and the setting,it may be narrow .you can get the same relay which you get with the unit.check the voltage near the socket.check for loose connection in the relay and compresor terminal and thermostate.

Hi, I have an LG refrigerator that has stopped cooling altogether.

its the ptc overload/relay,but make sure to check the compressors motor winding resistance on both start and run windings theres 3 terminal pins where the ptc overload attaches the single pin above or below the other 2 pin terminals is the common terminal, check for 8-11 ohms between the common and each of the other 2 terminals, then if no resistance or zero resistance then its the compressor, also check from the compressor case to each terminal at a time to make sure compressor isn't grounded to the case

It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken If the part is way expensive you can replace with a 3 in 1 relay for refrigerators alot cheapier and work just as good.

Your PTC relay is bad and needs to be replaced. That clicking sound you are hearing is the overload failing to hold and then clicks off.

Sure sounds like a PTC relay bad. Take the relay off and shake it to see if you can hear a rattling sound.

My Frig is not cooling

your ptc relay on the compressor when they go out they make a clicking noise. The compressor will quit and little bit later might try to come back on and click again. You need a new ptc relay. It is on the compressor little black box just unplug your refrigerator and pull the relay off. undo the wires and get a new one. Kinda staight forward compressor has 3 prongs that the relay plugs into.
