Question about i-mate K-jam Smartphone

1 Answer

Display problem my i-mate k-jam display loses or changes colors when i slide open the display to use the touch pad.  sometimes it will proceed to full white then back to color.  but i began to notice a distortion of color on the screen.  it would only occur when i slid the display open to use the touch pad.  now i think it is beginning to distort slightly in the closed position.  any suggestions on what the problem may be and how to resolve it?  thank you! james

Automatic document feeder does not work-- does not pick up paper

Yes, I had the same problem, and I finally got it to work. I took the printer apart and removed any paper that was stuck in the ADF in the top and it in the duplex in the back. I then did a reset and it still would not work. What I did was to turn off the printer by hitting the power button, unplug the power cable and let it sit for while so it loses its memory. then follow the instructions on HP web site on how to do a power cycle.

Solution four: Perform a power cycle
1. Turn the product off.
2. Unplug the power cord from the product.
3. Wait 30 seconds, and then connect the power cord to the product.
4. Turn the product on.
5. Make a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the control panel.
If the copy job is successful, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the error message displays again, proceed to the next solution.
Solution five: Reset the product
Follow these steps to reset the product.
Step one: Perform a partial reset
1. Disconnect the power cord from the product.
2. Press and hold # and 3 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
If the partial reset resolves the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the error message displays again, proceed to the next step to try a semi-full reset.
Step two: Perform a semi-full reset
CAUTION: Performing a semi-full reset deletes any saved phone numbers on the product.
1. Disconnect the power cord from the product.
2. Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.

In my case it still would not work, so I turned the printer off for about an hour so the memory would be erased. Then after I got it on I did a factory reset. - press setup, press 6, then press 3.

I'm so excited, my printer is now working again. HP would not repair it for me and would only send me a newer model, but the older ones are easier to repair and parts are available. My email address is: edwina.mann@comcast.net . Good luck.

I have a jammed cartridge, what can I do

The last two MFP printers brought into my shop had problems from their original setup and opening. Check the inside, anywhere that the paper path or cartridge line touches, make sure there are no small shards of plastic or remaining packing materials like tape or cardboard flakes deep in the printer. There are also small jam sensors that protrude very little from the paper path that if knocked over a little bit can become loose and ironically cause jams.

I-mate jam screen

First of all you need to make a "Hard" restart (thats usually cleans up also the memory so perheps you'd better back it up)You can make it by taking out the battery and there I think you should have the restart button, then go into the menu and try to re-configure your screen touch, Hope that'll help
