My microwave/convection shuts off after 59 seconds. One guy suggested I replace circuit board. Another guy says it could be several things. Any specific advice?

-   Same 59 seconds. In 2004 Holiday Rambler Scepter. Service tech was just here. Says Circuit board bad. Quote to fix $387.62. Ouch!! Did anyone get there's fixed? What was cause and what was fix. I can find the board for $132, was quoted $218 by tech for part $155 for labor. I took mine apart, (I watched the tech). Looks like board just unplugs in several places. Should be easy to replace. IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM. Pain in the **** pushing start button every 59 seconds.

-   I have the same problem. How do I get to the damper assembly. Do I need to take the unit down first?

-   Same 59 second issue with an R-1874 installed in a 2004 Monaco Diplomat Motor Home. Issue started between outings. Just looking into the possible cause and found your website. The unit was built in 11/2003.-   jimtomfulton
I had the same problem. Turned out to be the micro switch and damper motor. I replaced both myself and fixed the problem for less than $40.00. The best advice I got was replace the switch, reconnect the motor and make sure the motor runs through a damper door cycle. It didn't run, even though it showed continuity and had power, so I replaced the motor which solved the problem. The micro switch which is activated by the cam on the damper motor has to be cycled within one minute, or the unit shuts itself off. The damper motor on my model R-1870 is found in the right rear section of the assembly when facing it. You have to remove the unit, and remove the outer casing to get to it. The damper is a simple sheet metal door, activated by the motor, and the switch mounts at the top of the motor and is activated by the same cam that activates the door.
My problem turned out to be the control switch which was a $15 bill plus another $90 in labor. I had to remove the microwave from the motor home and take it in for repair. The removal can also be handled through the motor home dealership and the cost will be higher.
In the next couple weeks mine will be going into a shop that only repairs microwaves. I can't get it unmounted from my motorhome so that has to be solved first. I will post back here when I get the final fix.

- My problem turned out to be the damper motor.
$14.95 for the motor.
Total bill was $106.18 which included removing from motorhome, repairing and then reinstalling in the motorhome.
Damper assy is somewhere inside the microwave. Not too easy to get to I assume.

Sharp microwave R-1874. Does not heat Timer, lights, cooling fan work. Turn table does not turn , microwave does not come on, convection does not come on either. Is the a possible fuse or door interlock problem?

I am having the same problem shutting off after 59 sec. Sharp R-1874 model. Did anyone replace the control unit? That is what we were told to do but want to make sure this is the part we need to replace because the costs is about $150.00.
Same problem as those listed. Shuts off in convec or Micro after 59 secs. Also in a motor home. What co-incidances that there should be so many in motorhomes. Mine is a Monaco Windsor 2004 40' PST.
I am now looking for parts before I pull it out. Any suggestions.

I have the same problem with microwave shuts of after 59 sec. It is a built-in, in a 2006 hoilday rambler, we tried to take the front cover off, and this is impossible how do you remove?
Same problem noted on my SHARP R-937 (R-93ST).
I am not sure yet whether this model has a Damper assy installed....?
The 59 seconds issue could be a timer IC/uProcessor on its control panel?
My other suspect is the timer/weight setting knob wich is a Digital Control Potmeter rather than just a conventional analog?

Shuts down in 59 seconds. Checked with Sharp and a dealer was suggested.
I have the same problem with it shutting off after 59 seconds. We have a Sharp R-1874 Convection. We are in a motorhome. Recirculating non-vented. Any help?
I have the same 59 second problem. Just exactly where is the damper assy? As I look at the front of the unit is it on the left or right side? My microwave is mounted over the stove in a motorhome. Do I need to remove it to repair the damper assy?

Mine also only runs 59 seconds. Your tip about the damper...where is the damper assy?
