I have an Eton G3 recently purchased which has an operators manual, but does not contain any references to the layout of the buttons etc. I would like a link to find out the correct use of the radio

The buttons are marked and the use of most of them is self-evident.
The number keys are used to enter frequencies (direct tuning).
Lock locks the radio and prevent changes (trurning ON or OFF, changing frequency, any function change is blocked)
Sleep sets a timer.
+, - go up or down in frequency, or when you are setting time.
U/LSB is for toggling Upper or Lower Side Bands.
Auto Up and Auto Down are for the automatic tuning system (scanning the frequency spectrum)
AM is for switching to the AM (medium wave band)
AM/Meter band is for switching to the Short wave bands, and FM is for Frequency modulation band.
VOL + and - increase and decrease volume levels

Page/time: It has 700 memory locations to store frequencies. These are organized in pages (maybe up to 100 pages). You jump to next page with that button. Used also when setting time . Please read the instructions.

F1 to F7 are used to select the day for the alarm. F1 for Day 1, Sunday, F2 for Monday, etc) You can set an alarm for each day of the week.
Reset to reset configuration
TZ/Line in TZ set time zone, Line In if you wan to use the speaker of the radio as the output device for a signal from some other radio, or MP3 player
The tuning knob may also be used to change the displayed value while setting time (I can't remember exactly. You have the manual)
Erase erasing a stored frequency or a page (Check that)
Copy see above.

When I press Weather/Snooze the radio emitts a high pitch sound like a whistling. I have the radio set to voice, I have verified the channel 162.4750 for my area. I have a scanner tuned to that same...

Solution #1
Some counties have two frequency channels. check this URL address to see if you have another frequency channel for your area- If you do, try the other frequency channel for your area.

Solution #2
You may be receiving a poor reception quality because of where the radio is located or the antenna's positioning. First play with the antenna until you get a better reception. If this doesn't help, try moving it to a location near a window or outside room. If this doesn't help, you may have to buy an external antenna from an electronics store and hook it up to your radio. If you still have your WR-100 Owner's Manual, they have a page in there for reception (page 12), and it lists in there their suggested weather radio antenna.

Solution #3
It may not be anything you've done at all. It could be the weather station's transmitter itself. May you should call your local NWS office and plea your case to them.

My midland wr-100 will not work when it is set for same . Do you enter the freq. Or the same code

Do you have your S.A.M.E set for "Single"? If you don't, set the setting for "Single" and punch in the S.A.M.E code for your county. If you've already done that, then the problem may be that you live in a county that has one S.A.M.E code and two frequency channels. What you need to do is try both frequency channels for your county (you can find this information at and whichever one gives you the best reception, listen to that channel. Now keep in mind, the NWS have certain criterias for issuing a severe thunderstorm warning. To find out more info, go to and look at FAQ #10. I hope this helps you with your problem.
