You don't really have much of a choice. Hopefully, you have good back-ups. Just return the machine to an factory state and rectore your back-ups.

Could be any number of issues, try booting up in safe mode. If it boots up in safe mode, shut it down by selecting the shut-down option, then try rebooting. If it still does the same go back to safe "mode with networking." Update your anti virus and scan. Then update and scan for malware. Reboot again. If still not going go safe mode again, run fixdisk, if that does not fix it, try system restore to an earlier time and see what happens.if that doesn't work download a program called HDD Regenerator and run it from a CD or USB, it may fix it.

Set a Password for Safe Mode in Windows XP

Restrict the access to safe mode by setting administrator password! Safe mode is a special operating mode available in all Windows. In safe mode you can not run audio and video files, if you are affected with Trojans or malware and if you are not able to get rid of them then log on to safe mode. <br /> You can also change and diagnose programs in safe mode. But some times safe mode can be risky for the security reasons because any one can open the computer in safe mode. So it is very important to set a password for safe mode also, to restrict the access to safe mode you can set administrator password for the safe mode.<br /> We will help you to <a href="http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com/set-password-safe-mode-xp.htm"><b>set a password for safe mode in Windows XP</b></a>, you just have to follow the following steps:<br /> <b>Step1:</b><br /> The first step is to shut down the system and after some seconds reboot the computer. Now to go to safe mode, you just have to press <b>F8</b> while it is rebooting. You will see a black screen with a number of options, choose Safe mode and click enter.<br /><img src="safe-mode-windows-xp.png" /> <br /> <b>Step2:</b><br /> Select the Windows XP as the operating system and when safe mode will be loaded, you will get the welcome screen. Now click on the administrator to log on as administrator.<br /><img src="login-xp-administrator.png" /><br /><img src="windows-running-in-safe-mode.png" /> <b>Step3:</b><br /> Now click on the start button on the extreme left of the computer screen and click run. Now in the run dialog box, you have to type "<b>control userpasswords</b>". Now press enter, you will see a new window pick an account to change, there you just click on the administrator account.<br /><img src="run-xp-safe-mode.png" /><br /><img src="control-userpasswords.png" /><br /><img src="xp-default-administrator-account.png" /> <b>Step4: </b><br /> Now you will see list of options, just select change my passwords from the options given. You will get two dialogue boxes as current and new password, fill both of the fields. Now you have to click ok to finish the process. Now to see the changes made, reboot the computer and after selecting safe mode; you will ask to enter the passwords.<br /><img src="set-password-xp-administrator-account.png" /><br /><img src="create-password-for-xp-default-administrator.png" /> We recommend you to make a note of the passwords as well as use some other medium to remember the passwords. Because whenever you will need to log on to safe mode, you need to enter the password. We also recommend you to change the passwords at least once in a month to avoid any kind of security breaches. It is also essential to update the Windows once in a month to avoid internet worms.<br /> You can also <b><a href="http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com/bypass-xp-password-in-safe-mode.htm">reset Windows XP forgotten passwords in safe mode</a></b> whenever you want. To do so, you just need to enter into safe mode, then go to start, click run and type mmc in the dialogue box and press enter. Now you have to expand the local user and groups by clicking a "+" symbol on the left side of the window. Now you just have to click on the users in the local users and groups. After this go to administrator account, on the administrator account right click the mouse and press set password option. After finishing these steps, you successfully reset the password.<br /> <a href="http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com/downloads/Windows_Password_Recovery_Tool_Ent_Trial.exe"> XP Administrator Password Breaker [Download]</a>

I can not connect to my wirless local net work on my acer laptop what can I do to fix the problem? ( I was have a problem with avg free and it wasnt allowing anything to work on IE8 so i unistalled avg...

This should be a simple fix, do the following below.
1) Go to start, run, cmd, OK
2) After Cmd opens type this:-
netsh winsock reset catalog
--press enter

3) and again after pressing enter

netsh intip reset reset.log

4) Reboot

You should now be able to access the internet and your router etc.
After doing this go through and set up a new network, WiFi connection, using the icon, in the system toolbar, bottom right, click on the ICON, Right click, and select "Connect to wireless network" Select your network, if asked supply the WEP/WAP Key, password, and login, now you should be able to access the internet, through the router.
Also on laptop, in fact ALL "Clients" ie: Anyone who connects to the router. MUST have a Computer Name, a Windows login password, have sharing enabled, They also must have DHCP & Zero Configuration disabled in services. go, START>>RUN>>services.msc (enter), when the services window comes up, scroll down to DHCP, and turn OFF, set to Disabled, on start up, then, scroll down to Zero Configuration, and stop that and disable from starting too. Now reboot.

My laptop acer aspire5920 is not shutting down due to removal of my shutdown file from my laptop due to unknown reasons.

Hi dear,
Create Icons for Shutdown and Reboot If you find it annoying to access the Start Menu for shutting down or rebooting the computer, create a shutdown and reboot icon for the desktop.
Desktop Shutdown Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets.
Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut
Click [Finish]
Add a bit of class to the shortcut by assigning it a custom icon. Right click the shortcut, click [Properties] and select the [Shortcut] tab. Click [Change Icon] and select from the icons that are displayed.
Desktop Reboot Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets.
A Final Note: If you happen to be as fanatical as I am about having nothing on the desktop, drag the new icons into the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar.

then use it.

if not resolve it

then use following step ;-

click on start then go to RUN and type SFC /SCANNOW
press enter
this command recover all windows lost files, if it will ask windows CD then enter the windows disk.

bye take care
good luck

Windows shut down unexpectedly, and when I rebooted, I had lost all my icons, and start tool bar. How to get them back?

  1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
  2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
  3. Press Enter to start the Windows Setup. To Repair Install, press ENTER
    note.gifTo Repair Install, press ENTER
\r\n'); FP_changeProp(/*id*/'layer1',0,'style.borderStyle','double','style.borderWidth','3px','style.padding','5px','style.backgroundColor','#F9F4D5','style.backgroundImage','url(\'edgbkgnd4.gif\')'); FP_changeProp(/*id*/'layer1',0,'style.visibility','visible')" onclick="FP_changeProp(/*id*/'layer1',0,'style.visibility','hidden')" width="15" border="0" height="21" /> do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
  4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
  5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup. After the reboot read
  6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.take care god bless
