Question about Canon Speedlite 430EX TTL Flash
Speedlight 430EX During a recent firing test, upon pushing the test button I heard a pop sound from inside the flash unit and then a burning smell followed, no flash. When I checked the batteries they were so hot I could not hold them in my hand without burning myself. What could be going on here? New batteries put in it and it does not flash ready. The back lighting comes on and the text is shown.

SOURCE: Slave Flash
I'm guessing you're talking about a wireless connection...
Unfortunately, the 430EX can only act as a slave. You'll need one of the following to act as a master control unit: 550EX, 580EX, 508EX II or the ST-E2 transmitter :-(
