I have a lawntractor it is not a self propelled lawnmower i do not know will that matter about what I am asking?

Shouldn't matter, you need spark, gas for it to run, so I'd still check those. Take the plug out when it is dark out and pull, or turn it over, see a good spark? Good put it back it, if not then it is time to find otu why it isn't sparking. I you see gas in the carb when your trying to start, or if you can prime it then you know you have gas. One these the next thing to check is the air, a wide open choke won't give you a rich enough mixture to fire, so you can choke it by hand by putting yur hand over the air intake becareful, slight chance if it is messed up it could belch flames, but doesn't sound like that is your problem. Also if your choke is closed you should get wet fire, the engine won't run put if you keep turning it over you should get blue smoke, then your not getting enough air. So I'd start with checking those.

So the carb is clean. . . Could be a lot of things. . . . lets start: is it getting gas? You can take the filter off and look down to see if gas is getting fed, I the choke stuck open, this is hard to explain, but beside the air filter is a lever with a spring normally that is choke, try propping it one way or the other and see if that helps, also is there a saftey switch, a bar on top that has to be held down, or a switch by the carb that need flipped. I'd start with those, then maybe pull the top and look at the magneto, if it i rusty that will top it from starting as well.

Spray some carb cleaner into carb and try again. If it starts for a little while and then dies, you have spark and your carb is still your problem. If this is the problem clean every little hole using carb cleaner and needle(sewing needle that is). Make sure the carb cleaner comes out of some other hole than the one you are spraying into for each. Sometimes you need to keep the engine running with the carb cleaner for a while(1-2 minutes) by shooting short spurts into the carb just before it dies.

Not getting gas in carb in a 67 40hp johnson outboard motor , if i spray gas in carb it will start . any ideas , changed coils, points plugs and wires and put a new fuel pump and still same problem

Is gas getting to the inlet of the carb, If it is the carb needs to be taken off of engine and dismantled. There is a plugged port in the carb its self. You need to clean it throughly, every little orifice. If you discover a white powder substance on metal surface inside carb ,that is caused by water damage. carb should be replaced at this point. If it's just green or rusty inside cleaning should work. You have to make shure you clean both the high and low mixture passages. if only the high gets claen when it runs it will hunt or surge because its not getting fuel though low mixture passage. good luck.

2010 model 20 hp Briggs motor. Fuel going through fuel line, but not going into carberator. Motor runs good for about 15 min, but after heating up this fuel problem starts. After cooling down for an...

Two things:
1 Is fuel coming out of the fuel line. Older mowers have old fuel lines and they tend to get weak and collapse went they warm up with engine heat. Replace the old fuel line.
2 deposits in the carb. take off the air cleaner, start it up and spray a good carb cleaner in the carb until the engine dies. Put some 'seafoam' in the gas and a little in the oil and put the air cleaner back on and start the mower and mow on FULL THROTTLE. this should claen out the carb. Yes the mower will run rough for awhile.

these two cheap fixes will solve 85 % of carb problems. GOOD LUCK
