DVD No Disk Inserted

I have a panasonic DVD A320 that no longer recognizes when a DVD or CD is in the tray. It just started doing this and worked well until a few days ago. Any idea how the inserted DVD/CD is recognized and how a repair might be made. It isn't worth getting professionaly repaired. Thanks player says no disc installed when in fact there is one

Hi. the mother board will acknowledge a no read as (no disc) if the optical lens assembly has failed. two issue here, the tracking motor and lens have failed. you will need to replace the entire optical lens assembly in this case.

Wont recognize burned disk

Is the burned disk recognized in some other computer?

Is any "official" (purchased music CD, or purchased DVD video, or purchased Microsoft software) disk recognized when inserted into the device?

If you burn a disk on your computer, can your computer then read that burned disk?

Cd drive does not work.

Hi,

When you interrupt the boot sequence and go to the BIOS screen, does it recognize that there is a device at that point. If not it looks like the CD drive is U/S. If it does recognise it at BIOS ... try reloading the drives for the CD ... or upgrade to the latest.

Cheers,
Ripface.

DVD player no longer recognize disk. "No disk" displayed on player

This usually means that the optics are either dirty or starting to fail. Try openin gup the unit and carefully cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Once complete, if a music CD will play but DVD will not, the optics are failing and will need to be replaced.

Keep us posted,

Doesn't recognize disks anymore

This is a common problem with the Lite-on LVW range of DVD recorders due to changes in the construction of more recent DVD R media. It can be solved with a relatively simple firmware upgrade.

Goto : http://r00.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/download/index.asp

You'll need to have a blank CD and a CD/DVD writer in the PC you use to download the file.

Follow the instructions on the website to upgrade your firmware, this should then allow you to write to DVD's once again.
