Check both your input(rca) and output connections on the inside of the amp for any looseness or damage, solder connections and so forth.. However I think your power/output transistor(s) are burnt in the left channel

Not getting power

Pull the fuses and check them. Make sure that the wires have power. Battery power should always be on(12V) and the remote wire should have power only when you turn on the radio. Also check to make sure you have a good ground to chassis. If your wires have power and the amp's fuses are fine, then the amp's fried. At that point if it's not under warranty, open it up and see what you find. I may be a cold solder point that need re soldering or a burnt lead on the PCB board. Pay close attention at the power end of the amp, where you hook up your wires, check around there especially.

Amplifier turns on green, then red. I opened the housing and found a burnt black square item with three soldered pins onto the board. Note, there are many of these pieces lining both sides of the board.

That would be the MosFET's used in the Power supply or in the Output channel stages. More than likely its the output ones, the power supply ones usually blow the fuse as soon as power is hooked up. The RED led comes on to notify you that there is a problem with some part of the amp. In this case it could be DC on Speaker ouputs or Power supply voltage mismatch. It can usually be repaired depending on if the PCB was dammaged or not. the parts arent expensive ($3 - 7 a peice inline)

My yamaha does'nt turn on it just blinks on then turns off right away

You have a power audio amplifier problem. The blinking is an error code, common on latest TV,audio/video and all electronic appliances. The one that you have is your Audio Power amp is defective,it needs replacement of main Audio Power IC,do check the caps too.

I replaced my mini component stereo (360 watt) speakers with new speakers that apparently can handle up to 600 watts. If the volume is too high on the receiver, the power cuts out. I think this is because...

probably you are right due to high impedance of the speaker the receiver cant handle it, the mini component can handle 80 to 100 watts only. you need a high watts amplifier to used your 360 watts speaker, just connect it to the audio output of the mini component. thanks

Power to amp

It sounds like the power supply has failed (burnt smell). Any local shop that repairs car audio should be able to repair it. If you don't know which shops repair car audio, call the local car audio dealers and ask them who they send their amps to for service.
